Shake Your Ta Ta's Blog Hop

Welcome to Shake Those TaTa's - Its Mardi Gras Time!!!! Fat Tuesday!!!!! We had such a great parade last year and thought we need to do it again! Let's throw some beads off the floats, get our masks on and party like we've never partied before.

We have a great group of party animals to showcase their floats and toss some beads. Be sure to give everyone some bloggie love as there will be some blog candy along the way!

Lynne has some goodies in her stash that one lucky winner will receive if they remark at each stop along the way . . . .

My project today is not quite what I had hoped for and for this I apologize. Due to some issues Friday and over the weekend, I was unable to craft and Monday,  Cricut and I were not on speaking terms until later in the evening. With this being said . . . .

I have done a one-page lay-out:

RECIPE:
  • Treasure Box Designs Treasure Tots Mardi Gras
  • Treasure Box Designs Vertical Mardi Gras Border
  • background paper is DCWV Blossom Song Stack
  • feathers are compliments of Kimberly Pate
  • photo mat is Recollections
  • bead and rhinestones are from Miriam's Crafting Supplies
  • edges inked with Inkadinkadoo
  • journal card from K&Company Hopscotch Pad
  • ribbon from Basic Expressions
This is the project, I had done last year which I was much more satisfied with....

you know how sometimes your projects turn out phenomenal and then there are those other times where you wonder what was I thinking .... well, today was one of those what was I thinking!!!

I Love Sketches by Tsunami Rose November 5, 2012

One of the wonderful aspects of being a part of the Tsunami Rose Designs team are the sneak peeks we get from all of Daisy’s marvelous designs. Beginning on November 1st, Tsunami Rose Designs will begin selling the first ever, Life Abloom Printable Journal. This is one stunning design you will not want to miss. When you purchase a printable from the Tsunami Rose Designs Shop, you are purchasing a high quality digital image, that is printable on any type of printer. What is really superb, once you purchase the design, you can use it as many times as you desire. I promise, the Life Abloom is one design you will not want to miss. You will find the new printable journal here . To add to the fun, the first 20 people to purchase the journal will get an additional free $5.00 to spend in the Tsunami Rose Designs Shop.

There are several pages we would love for you to follow, two on Facebook, the wonderful Facebook TRD Group! and the New TRD Facebook Page, the third page is the Tsunami Rose Designs by Daisy Collins blog page. Following the blog will provide you with daily inspiration on how to use the wonderful printables from the shop.

My card is a bit out of the ordinary as I took my inspiration from several factors one of which is Phantom of the Opera with the roses along with the Sketch which made me think of Christine - ok, I never said I made much sense. With this thought process - I ran with it and viola .... my project!

The Sketch is Sketch #8

In addition to using Life Abloom papers, I used 8.5 x 11 Vintage Digital Scrapbook Paper "Rose Multiply" for the circle which was then inked with distress

The mask and pearls are from Treasure Box Designs Mardi Gras Kids. A paragraph about why you completed this project

Additional pearls were added to the mask, the pearl strand, and the holder for the mask.

Mardi Gras Blog Hop

Welcome to our Mardi Gras parade. I must warn you though while you may enjoy jumping up to catch beads, doubloons, cups, stuffed animals--whatever! Please yell at the float riders "Throw me something, Mister!" Bring a large, sturdy plastic or cloth bag to hold all the treasure you'll be catching - if you try to put all of your beads around your neck, you'll have a hard time standing up straight! Be prepared: some people get so overcome with excitement they will occasionally jump in front of you to grab what a rider has thrown to you. Don't get into a tug-o-war as there are many more floats on the way! If you're visiting our hop and have traveled a distance, hold up a sign saying where you are from.. Our local riders love to see people from far away have a good time and will throw goodies to them to make sure they do!

The colors of Mardi Gras are: Purple which represents justice; Green which represents faith; and Gold which represents power.Mardi Gras is always held the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday. Mardi Gras is music, parades, picnics, floats, excitement ... and one big holiday in New Orleans! Everyone is wearing purple, green, and gold; and adorned with long beads caught from the beautiful floats. They sit on the ground throwing balls, playing music, having a picnic, and watching the crowds walk by between parades.

Instead of beads, coconuts (which apparently is the most prized throw from floats) and other baubles, we have two great sponsors:

$15 Gift Card for Treasure Box Designs (http://www.treasureboxdesigns.com/). They are asking you to stop by their blog and become a follower of their blog at http://treasureboxdesigns.blogspot.com/. They are having issues with their blog at this time but asking you to become a follower!

$50 Gift card from Anita Meadows Cannon

Sew, sit back with your beverage of choice, just keep in mind the police are in full force watching for drunken lewdness as this is a family event! Feel free to watch in costume, as this is a festive hop!!

If you have just happened to be visiting with me today, don't get me wrong as I always love visitors, BUT, I’m also your first hop at the beginning of our parade route. Kimberly and I are your co-hostesses and Grand Marshalls of the Mardi Gras Blog Hop today and hope you have a fabulous time!!!!

Recipe:
Treasure Chest Box Designs Treasure Tots Mardi Gras Tots (http://www.treasureboxdesigns.com/category_30/Treasure-Tots.htm) and what’s best its on sale now for $2.99!!!!
JoAnn Fabrics Accents for the mask on front, Mardi Gras sign, Beads and bottle inside – brace yourself, I got this on clearance for $.79 CENTS!!!!! Wowsers, wish I would have gotten more!!!
Scrap paper along with some in my stash (we all know what that is!)

Did you check out all my beads --- see, I'm bead worthy!!! Ok, maybe sometime in another life-time but . . .

Sorry, no sentiment as of yet inside …. Came up with a few ideas though and you can help me with that – I was going to put “Shake your tata’s” or having the girl ask “am I bead worthy”  and the boy responding “Oh Yeah!”

Hope enjoyed my float in the parade. To continue on the parade route, your next stop is Edwina.  I would love for you to throw me your comments as to my tribute to Mardi Gras!

Here is the entire link of the hop in case you get lost along the way!!! As, I have remarked, this is one very talented group of ladies with amazing projects by all!!!!

Again, thank you ever sew much for stopping by. Please leave comments to show your bloggie love to all of the crafty ladies along the parade route!

God bless and thank you
