I Love Sketches by Tsunami Rose Sketch #1

Welcome - I'm sew delighted you came to see my interpretations of I Love Sketches by Tsunami Rose with Sketch #1 which was to be for November 7, 2012. 

My inspiration was Sketch #1 for November 7th, with of course, a twist of Lynne! Originally this card was to be part of a Hello Kitty is Thankful Blog Hop but the hop just didn't happen and here I am with a Hello Kitty, but that's not a bad thing - now is it?

• My background paper was cut 5.75 x 5.75 inches paper from a paper swap -- you can't beat that

• Hello Kitty was cut using Cricut Hello Kitty Greetings Cartridge cut at 5-inches
• All my edges were inked 
• The scalloped rectangle was cut using Little Scraps of Heaven Scalloped Shapes Pattern Set
• Hello Kitty is dressed using Treasure Box Designs First Thanksgiving Tear Bear Outfit
• Pearl button for Hello Kitty's nose and black pearl buttons down the front of her dress
• Trim across the center was cut using Cricut Elegant Edges Cartridge

I Love sketches by Tsunami Rose for September 1, 2012

Welcome - Its a new month along with new papers and new sketches! I'm sew glad you came to see my I Love Sketches by Tsunami Rose for September 1, 2012. 

This is what I have created with Sketch #30 for September 1, 2012:

This card and I did have a lot of fun together! The paper I used is an original design that Daisy had made and its Hello Kitty!!! It's a win/win situation!!!

• The sentiment I used was, "Hi Cupcake" 
• My card was cut 6 x 6-inches with DCWV Black Current
• My sentiment was added on Lacey Labels Cricut Cartridge with a white background inked in pastel pink with a pink background piece
• My background paper is an original that was made by Daisy Collins
• The flower border was cut at 1.75-inches using Mickey and Friends Cricut Cartridge
• Originally, I did not have buttons in the center of the flowers, but they needed something and I added yellow buttons from my infamous stash of buttons
• Hello Kitty was cut using Hello Kitty Greetings Cricut Cartridge cut at 1.75-inches. 
• Originally, there were no pearls on my card, but the poor thing was lonely and I added pink pearls for Hello Kitty's nose and around the sentiment label

INKED Blog Hop (aka Tattoo's)

Welcome to INKED -- I love the artwork that is being used in tattoos and its amazing how many people are getting tattoos now-a-days and it’s not just for bikers or marines anymore! This hop then is dedicated to the beautiful artwork whether you have a tattoo or not . . .

I  got my first tattoo in 1997 and its of Winnie the Pooh floating upwards with 3 balloons on my upper right thigh. I now want to get another tattoo and hopefully it will be later this year of angel wings with a quilt square in the center with my little angel's name above the wings.

We all get tattoos for various reasons. I have noticed that women that with breast cancer that have their breast removed are now a large group getting tattoos. When my lump was first found and of course with all the concern -- I thought and still feel that if and when my breast would be removed, I want to have a glorious tattoo of a peacock!!!!

The art of tattoo can be anything as simple as a name or as beautiful as a peacock and there is always a story behind a tattoo.

My tattoo is that of Winnie the Pooh with balloons floating upwards “towards the promised land” on my upper right thigh. At the time, my daughter was 17 and wanted a tattoo. I told her I had no problem with that as I had always wanted one. I was dating a cowboy at the time and he and I did a search of tattoo parlors in the area and found a great shop that was super clean and was run by a kewl dude and his wife. She was a graphic artist and would actually draw whatever you wanted to give custom work while Dale, her husband would do the tattoo. Dale had a cappuccino machine which was rare at that time and would offer you a cappuccino. I got my Winnie the Pooh and Dale was just starting the strings on my balloons and it started to hurt considering how high this is …. Dale said he had to add the balloons and CW said that Tigger was hiding in the shrubs and burst the balloons!!!!

Did I mention that my daughter never got a tattoo and I was grounded at the age of 45 by my dad for my stupidity as my daughter had to hurry and call her pap to tell him what I had done!!!!


I also made a card for this hop, which brace yourself came from the Cricut Cartridge Hello Kitty. I used the Swirl Folder and embossed using my Cuttlebug. The sentiment is from a Hero Arts collection. Of course, I had to add bling to my card because as a dear friend tells me - what's a card without bling??

For my next tattoo, I want to have angel wings on my left shoulder with a heart in the center. The heart in the center is to look like a pastel quilt with my “angel’s” name, Amalia along with her date of birth, August 29, 1989 to October 11, 1991. I stamped the sentiment on my card “enjoy the moment” as you never know how long you have to love the ones you have.

Today, Grammy Lynne is Guest Designer for her dear friend Susan Bermudez, of http://susanascorner.blogspot.com/,  but she is kinda busy and she overdid it today with shopping and laundry – geesh, you would think she would learn!!!

When Grammie and Paps pick me up after school, Grammie gets a snack for Paps and me and then we CRAFT!!!!! I’m very good at using the Cricut and love to make cards!!!

This is a Hello Kitty card we made for my Aunt Jean. This is from Grammy’s Hello Kitty Greetings Cricut cartridge. 

Grammy says we use scraps first for the little pieces but we used Recollections Black for the card. I like glitter and gems and we put a gemstone in the center of the flower. I still have to decorate my card and write “I love you Aunt Jean” but we will do that later!!! Grammy says there are several rules we need to obey when using her Cricut:

1.     We don’t eat using the Cricut

2.    We don’t touch the Cricut when it is cutting

3.    And most important – the Cricut is not a toy!!!

The other project we did was using ek tools that makes dimensional flowers. Mommy bought this for Grammy and I to make pretty flowers. 

We had a lot of fun with this but you have to be very careful and it is hard to get it to cut – but look how pretty the flowers are. I got to ink them as that is my favorite job but Grammy keeps the hand sanitizer handy cause I get as much ink on me as I do on the paper! Grammy then got out her beads and she glued them in the center as I'm not allowed to play with the hot glue gun - Grammy burns her fingers though and she doesn't want me to burn mine!

My project was inspired by Jearise's preparations for her daughter's birthday party and the theme. I made a darling little gift bag with was cut from Tags, Bags, Boxes and More at 5.5 inches. I cut a little piece to add to the bottom just to make the bag a bit sturdier. This paper was such a find at Pat Catan's and has a shiny appearance and is very sturdy but wait, I only paid $.10 for this paper and trust me, I got what was left in the bin!!!! 

In the cartridge they give "inspirations" as to suggested projects which I have often looked at and aspire to make them at one point! Well, that time had come as they had done the gift bag with the tags saying "Have A Happy Birth Day". I loved the look of the tags which were also cut from the same cartridge at 1.5 inches but I wrote instead "Dream", "Believe" "Love" in pastel colors to coordinate for the little bag attached with iridescent white ribbon edged in silver! 

Now, to my inspiration --- Hello Kitty as her daughter has favors, invitations and button and now a gift bag! The Hello Kitty was cut from Hello Kitty Greetings 1.75 inches with Stickles for her bow!!!

The size is just purrrfect to put a small Birthday treat for a very special 7-year old!!! Happy Birthday!!!

For my project, I have cut Hello Kitty with her new winter coat card cut at the super-size of 10.75 inches tall!!!! The coat is cut from a Christmas plaid from last year's Christmas stack that was combined with Halloween and Thanksgiving. I cut the card from black cardstock along with an additional layer of black to piece all my cute little pieces!!! I shaded the antlers just a bit and added glossy accents on her hat, buttons, and coat. As for the sentiment, the jury is still out on what it should say at this time!!!!

For the hop, project is a frame from Michael's for a dollar - what a deal, what a deal! 
I painted it with Apple Barrel Wedgewood Green paint and after adding my lettering and my Kitty, I put a satin varnish to seal not only the paint but also my piecing. 
Hello Kitty was cut at 2.75 inches from my Hello Kitty Greetings cartridge. 
The font I used was my Cricut Teardrop cartridge cut at 1.75 inches but instead of "Hello Kitty", I used "Hello Lily" and now just can't get the words to "Hello Dolly" outta my head! 
This was made entirely with my scraps. 
For the absolute final touch which I think makes the picture, I put a picture of my granddaughter whose name is Lily inside the heart with her new kitty kat winter hat!!! Just purrfect!

For the hop today, I've created a card for my precious granddaughter, Lily, as this will be her first Halloween. Lily is going to be Rapunzel for Halloween.

I love Hello Kitty as I have 3 cats and my daughter has 3 cats also and Lily chases and pulls the kitties. Sew, I made the Hello Kitty Halloween card cut at 5.25 inches with my basic black paper with white for Hello Kitty's face, orange for her bow, and since this is a little girl, she has to have a pink lolly pop! A metallic gel pen was used for the paw prints as tiny tiny little pieces and I don't get along!  I hand-wrote the sentiment on the inside as I didn't want anything scary but wanted "cutsie" instead!!!!

Graduation Card Mode

Happy 4th of July and hope everyone is having a safe holiday!

Yes, I know, it's the 4th of July but I've been in a graduation card mode with having 2 graduates from Kindergarten, 1 from Nursery School, and 1 from Elementary School!

These were super easy and using my favorite cartridges they were done 1-2-3!

Pat Catan's has some great papers on sale with the black stripe being only 10 cents per sheet and the blue in a package of 24 sheets of various double-sided prints for $3.00! Ilove bargains!!!!

Using my Xyron while cutting all the small pieces, I just put them in there and everything is in one place! 3 Birds on Parade has a fantastic font and I just love the little birdie with cap and gown! As for the girls, they got Hello Kitty Greetings. What a great cartridge with Hello Kitty dressed up for various occassions and with the cap and gown throwing the cap in the air - how adorable can that be! As for Hello Kitty's nose, I just love adding a little bling with a rhinestone.

The diplomas and cards are cut from of course - A Child's Year along with the oval background! I just may surprise you one day and use something else for my cards!!!

Well, enjoy your picnic and the fireworks! As for me, I'm doing laundry and the Cricut and I are doing some serious bonding!

Everyday Pop Up Cards - Sewing Machine

I just couldn't leave well enoough alone --- was sitting staring at my card and decided it needed just a bit of bling and then I added just a few buttons and this little bow that was found in my button stash!

My hope is to use my cartridges of which I have quite a collection. The first Cricut cartridge that I would like to show is the Everyday Pop-Up Cards and is my most recent purchase. With this in mind, I would like to first comment that this cartridge and I weren't on the best of terms the biggest part of the day and I wish that there had been better directions as to placement but alas through trial and error not to mention the cartridge and I coming to terms - I made this cute little sewing machine Birthday card. The paper I used is the DCWV The Crafty Room with the background paper appearing as practising the different stitches on the machine. The sewing machine was cut from my scrap collection. The Happy Birthday was cut from one of my most favorite cartridges, Hello Kitty Greetings! How the pop-up fits is basically trial and error to get it to the place where it not only opens but folds completely flat! My suggestion would be to fold your pop-up and set inside with just a dab of glue until it fits properly and then mark with a pencil to the position and then and only then glue! One of my worst personality traits is that I always try to add my own personal twist. My own personal twist on this card is a piece of actual fabric 4 x 4 inches with folded little pleats in the fabric and used my Glue Glider Pro to hold the fabric in place. I love my Xyron with lettering and having them as stickers make it so much easier to glue in place and also used that for the brown accent on the sewing machine on the front. Dots were used to attach the front sewing machine and the Happy Birthday on the inside. I hope you enjoy!
