Scrapbook Blessings Challenge No Squares Here - but then again, Lynne breaks the rules!

It's that time of the month where Scrapbook Blessings is setting up a challenge for "No Squares Here". The Design Team is doing something a little different by showcasing different styles of folded cards. Myself, I Chose and Easel Card using
http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/easelcard/ as my inpiration! There are also many style of easel cards that are showcased at Split Coast Stampers including and not limited to the one that I have used. OR as another option, which is what I used is My Scrap Chick has many different styles of svg files to cut for Easel Cards. The one I used is the Square Scallop from Easel Card Assortment. Yea,  ok, I know the rules "No Squares Here" but I'm a rebel!

Our sponsor for this challenge is Wags 'n Whiskers which can be purchased at Stamp and Create who sew graciously offered samples of their digitals to the Design Team - the one that I chose is Furry Friends. Now with all that being said, here's my card!

RECIPE:
  • card was made using My Scrap Chick Easel Card Assortment Square Scallop
  • DCWV Lady Couture Paper Stack was used for the actual card and the floral background
  • Recollections Red Card Stock is used for the one background
  • Furry Friends was colored using Spectrum Noir Markers and gel pens for accents
  • sentiments "you look marvelous darling" and Basically you're fantastic" are from Create with TLC. If you're not already a "follower" of her blog, this is something as a "must" on your "to do list" as she offers on a daily basis phenomenal freebies which the above sentiments are just an offering!
  • pearl trim was purchased at Pat Catan's Craft Store which is a local store
  • pearls, rhinestones, feather, and ribbon rose are from my stash
Easel cards give the illusion of a lot of work but are actually very easy!!!! Why not give one a try!

God Bless and thanks for stopping by today. I appreciate and love reading your comments . . is your comment the next one I read???

I think she's adorable and what more - I can have fun with buttons!!!!

RECIPE:

  • Stickles was added to her hair and wings for that shimmery and glittery look
The intentions of this card may be absurd but my New Year's Resolution this year is to finish projects or dreams . . . . well, when my parents passed (I can hardly believe it has been 3 years now) a friend of mine from High School had written me a beautiful letter and I keep wanting to reply but things and time gets in the way - well, this card is intended for such friend with a thank you even though it is late along with updates on how my life has gone.

Live a Little by Putting on Red Lipstick

Create with TLC has a new wonderful set - Red Lipstick and Live, Vintage Image and Sentiment is one of Create with TLC's new sets which she is calling her "Trashy Romance" but it is sew me!!!! Also, with this card, I saw someone had submitted a challenge for Scrapbook Blessings and fell in love with the "braided" look and I just had to incorporate the two together.

Isn't that card border impressive and let me tell you oh oh easy!!!! I do need to let you know with some papers, you may see the folding crease as I had and just using my Spectrum Noir DR5 to cover the marking which concealed it purrfectly!!!

Here's the link to the Website which also shows you the video - hope you have a chance to stop and visit to learn this fabulous technique at Welcome to Brandy's Cards along with a free download of the template!!!!

RECIPE:
  • card was cut 5.5 x 8.5 inches using K&Co Speciality Paper for Valentine's Day which was double-sided and gave the two-toned braid
  • background paper is Recollections Card Stock both in red and black
  • black background paper was embossed using Cuttlebug Hearts embossing folder
  • digi was colored using Spectrum Noir and Prisma Markers with Prisma Colored Pencils and gel pens, fussy cut around the edges and puff-dotted on my card - now I need to say I'm not the proudest of her eyes as I was having issues doing them and I didn't want her to look scary while this handsome dude wanted to suck her face - hope I succeeded!!!
  • sentiment, "Put on some Red Lipstick and live a little" was also from this set which is chalked around the edges, "Lipstick" was colored with gel pen and puff-dotted onto my card
  • ribbon is Darice Satin Edge Organza

Wobbly Valentine Cards for Lily and Adam

With Valentine's Day next week and the crappy weather we've been having, I thought I had better accomplish cards for Lily and Adam since I had planned on going over on Friday.

RECIPE:
  • cards measure approximately 6-inces and were made using Treasure Box Designs Sweethearts file
  • paper is from my stash
  • all edges are chalked for dimension
  • for the fun part, I added wobbles under the bee's body that he may go buzzzzzzing around and the elephant's head
Lily opened both cards because as Lily said Adam is just too little. She then laid the cards side by side and was playing the game what each card had that was the same and what was different!!! She loved that they wobbled! I usually punch a whole in the top of them and add ribbon and Lily hangs them on the doorknobs throughout the house!!! With that being said, her Thanksgiving turkey is still up and hanging!!!
I thank you for stopping by today. I appreciate and love reading your comments . . is your comment the next one I read???

Confidence is Sexy!!!

Create with TLC has a new wonderful set - Confidence is Sexy Vintage Image Transfer and Sentiment Set which has a vintage image of a woman with the old fashioned girdle and garters. I had this card sitting in front of me for a few days just screaming it wanted a garter going down the one side but alas, I couldn't find an old one of mine and I didn't feel like removing one from a purrfectly good garter belt but I guess that could be construed as TMI. The sentiment is purfect for many occasions but I think I will send this to a friend of mine who is going through a rough time and needs a boost of moral!!!

With all of my rambling, I guess you want to see my card and I can't wait to share it with you . . . .

RECIPE:
  • card was cut 5.5 x 11 inches with DCWV Linen and Lace Collection which I want to tell is one of my very most favorite stacks of paper!!!
  • background paper is from my stash and was cut 5 x 5 inches
  • digi was colored using Spectrum Noir and Prisma Markers with Prisma Colored Pencils and gel pens
  • sentiment, "Confidence is sexy" was also from the new set
  • lace is from my scraps from doll making which I added an 1/8 of inch ribbon from Darice
  • cameo was a bronze embellishment that Miriam's Crafting Supplies had carried but she has many others to chose from
  • pearls are from Queen and Co. which I purchased from Pat Catan's for a dollar but I'm sure many other craft stores carry something similar

  • lace is from my stash
