It's the Tiny Blessings . . . .

I was sew very proud of myself as I finally started a challenge of a technique which had thoroughly intimidated me AND thought I had finished my DT project and challenge but NO!!!!! Silly me, I needed to add an image from the sponsor - oh well, with that being said, I still feel this is a beautiful card and I'm very proud to share it with you today:

Recipe:
  • Recollection turquoise cardstock for the A2 card
  • white Recollection cardstock was embossed using paisley Cuttlebug Embossing folder
  • ombre technique was used on the background - did a search and found all versions of this technique on Pinterest
  • Create with TLC has a beautiful sentiment, "It's the tiny Blessings that help us see past how lovely Life can be", is from Create with TLC Blessed Digi Image and Word Art Set
  • butterflies were cut using Cricut Stamping Cartridge at .75, 1., and 1.25 inches in black Recollection cardstock with the antennae added with black gen pen and then Stitckles added for the "flutter" and one side of the butterfly
  • Darice Satin Edged Organza is on the left side with an additional tied tied into a bow
I appreciate and love reading your comments . . is your comment the next one I read???

Much love, hugs, and friendship

We have some unusual blog candy today. If you happen to notice that Lynne has Count Your Button Day for October 21, 2012. The one closest to guessing how many buttons are on Lynne's card will win some buttons. Now, how kewl is that??

For my projects today, I have chosen several "Calendar Days". The first being is that October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This is a personal cause for me as a lump was found on my right breast Christmas Eve 2010 with them making an appointment for a biopsy January 3, 2011. What a way to start the holiday season and to be "merry". Now, my story has a happy ending, sew to speak, as I have atypical ductal hyperplasia which is basically pre-cancer cells found in the milk ducts which makes me a high-risk for breast cancer. I need to go twice a year for mammograms and examination to ensure that it doesn't develop further. I'm a lucky one but scheduling your yearly mammogram and self-examination is NOTHING that need to be put off. The atypical ductal hyperplasia is something that can only be found through a mammogram!!! Alright, I'll step-down from my soap box, for now at least!

For my card, I have duplicated one of my favorite T-shirts "I wear pink for me!" This card was made as a note card with a matching butterfly on the inside as well.

RECIPE:

  • My Scrap Chick Shape Cards 2 (T-shirt was used) cut to make a 6-inch card
  • Butterfly was cut using Cricut Stamping Cartridge
  • scraps from my stash

October 19th is National Mammogram Day. I made a special card to send as a notecard to a friend to remind her to get her mammogram. This card is an awareness ribbon as the center of my butterfly set on a white background.

Now, October 21st is Count Your Button Day . . . now this is a holiday and recognition day after my own heart as I have tins and tins of buttons that I just love looking through and hearing the wonderful sound of the buttons.

Recipe:

  • My Scrap Chick Shape Cards 2 (Gift Jar was used)
  • Now, how many buttons are in my gift jar?
  • Vellum sewn on to the card to hold the buttons
  • scraps from my stash

Your next stop along the way is Anita to showcase her cards for this month.

Thanks for stopping by and mark your calendar again next month to see what Holidays to Celebrate on November 10, 2012, for the next Calendar Girls Blog Hop!

Chinese New Year Blog Hop Day 2

Chinese New Year Blog Hop
Day 2
January 22-23, 2012
Year of the Dragon

If you missed Chinese New Year Blog Hop Day 1, please click here

Ni hao and welcome to the Chinese New Year Blog Hop!  This hop is in honor of Guan, the little boy April's family is adopting from Taiwan.  To celebrate his culture, we want to share some Chinese-inspired projects with you!

If you arrived here from April, then you are in the right place!  If you just joined us, please go back to April's blog at www.curlsandgrins.blogspot.com/ to see everyone's amazing creativity!

For my project, I created a lantern with dragon flies.

RECIPE:
Lantern was cut using Summer Lanterns from SVG Attic measuring 7.5-inches tall
Paper for lantern was from Me & My Big Ideas Speciality Card Stock with beautiful butterflies and dragonflies and some sheets have metallic accents or black flocking
Dragon flies were cut from Cricut Stamping cartridge cut at 3.5 inches glued center down with wings unattached
Paper for Dragon flies was from K & Co. Susan Winget Specialty Paper which is double-sided
Vellum for the cut-outs

And of course, I know, we don't put real candles in paper lanterns!!! This I know, but strictly for photographic purposes -- quick night-time picture and out the candle!!!!

But, you have to admit, its beautiful lit!!!!!

We have some great blog candy to offer from April Nourse and PSA Essentials.  To be eligible, you must simply comment on each blog on each day's post.  We'd love for you to become a follower of each of our blogs too.

Thanks for stopping by!  Your next stop is a good friend of mine, Ashley.

Here's the complete line-up in case you get lost along the way:

Again, congrats April on your new son! I will be entering this card in Little Scraps of Heaven Design Blog Challenge for this week.

God Bless you and thank you

You should have come from seeing Lisa's phenominal projects for Deborah. I know I can't decide which project of hers that I like the best! I welcome you now to check out my great card that I made for Deborah. Deborah loves the colors pink and brown and dragonflies - what a great inspiration this was!!!

I made a card by cutting one of my favorite stack of paper by DCWV The Lace  Linen Stack 10 x 6-inches and folded in half. This ivory and chocolate paper has a touch of glitter and I love the look!!! I cut the dragonflies with pink paper from the Stamping Cartridge at 1.75, 1.50, and 1.25 inches with puff dots under each layer to make the dragon fly come alive with added dimension. I added little pink silk flower petals with a rhinestone center for that added bling bling. I then cut the circle design with the built-in cartridge on my E2 that is called Just a Note with the little pink floral print at 3-inches and the ivory cut at 2.50 inches. I wrote Birthday Wishes in the center. Now, for the inside of the card, I used one of my stamps that is purrrrfect for an adult birthday card --- "You're only a kid once but you can be young for a lifetime. Happy Birthday" which I stamped in Rich Cocoa and colored with my Prism Colored Pencils. And now to show you my beautiful card -

I hope you enjoyed my card and most of all, I hope Deborah has enjoyed her surprise party. What would have been blog candy will be added to the card as an extra gift for Deborah!!!!! BUT, I do have some blog candy for you too by becoming a follower - your blog candy is 13 sheets of paper from Pink Petticoat Wild Blossoms Collection along with Kate Knight Paper Stack . These papers are 5x5 and are great for borders. A sample of the paper is the bottom circle of Birthday Greetings. I do hope that you would stop by tomorrow for a Back to School Blog Hop with more blog candy .....

Your next stop on the hop is Jearise to show off her talents!!!!

Thank you again, and please leave a comment as I always love to hear what you think .....
God Bless
Hugs and Love

Flippy Floppy's

Don't you just love this adorable flip flop. I found this a little too late and with not feeling well, there was a challenge with the pattern being provided at http://paperdollsblog.typepad.com/main/2011/06/challenge-week-4-wearin-my-flippy-floppys.html and with being too late, I didn't qualify. Oh well, I still love playing with this and looking at my flippy floppy how hard is it to believe that this was made with paper!!

I was just sew inspired because I love my flip flops and then to make it into a little box what couldn't be cuter to give as a gift with a little treasure inside!!!

I used the StampingCricut Cartridge for my little butterfly with a shadow with adding a little bling bling with the rhinestones and wire for the antennae and some upholstry braid for style! I named my little flippy floppy "SOAR" with my butterfly as butterflies are free and one could only wish to soar and be free! With my OCD, I just had to line both my box lid and box bottom along with my sides. Just couldn't leave it white!

Hope you enjoy my flippy floppy and stop over at The Paper Doll to see her challenges for some wonderful inspiration!

Thanks for stopping by! Hugs and love! Welcome to my new followers!!!
