Trick or Treat Boxes

Today, we had a birthday dinner for Jerry Jr.It was a busy hectic day and I'm ready for a nap!!!! I had made treat boxes for Sasha, Zack, and Nick.

For the treat boxes, I used the Cricut Cartridge Happy Hauntings. It is truly amazing that the size is not what it is cracked up to be -- a full-sheet of 12x12 paper makes a little box that only fits 1 mini Kit Kat, 1 mini Reeses Peanut Butter Cup, and two pieces of bubble gum with 2 pencils sticking out!!!

As I had mentioned it was Jr's birthday and I had everyone here for dinner --- I did ask Jean to bake the cake as she bakes phenomenal cakes!!!!!!! Jr. likes Smurfs thus his cake . . .

doesn't that look absolutely delish and yummy with chocolate cake and white frosting!!!!

Now, I did make him a birthday card but not sure if I will ever ever make this critter again with all those little pieces which with my hands using tweezers which was getting a vocabulary lesson but still not as bad as the Huanted House!!!!!! I used Cricut Cartridge Classic Pixar Sully!!!!

Hope you enjoyed my day. It was a lot of work, but I'm sure everyone went home with a full belly!!!!

God Bless

Quilter's Weekend Retreat This Weekend!!!

One of my first passions was quilting - but after shattering my left arm in 2007 and having limited use of that hand due to the tendons having been replaced as they had shattered also - I have not been able to do the quilting that I would love to be doing!!! But, on the other hand, I have found another passion which is "scrapping" as there are many similarities as quilting especially with all the little pieces which sometimes, let me tell you they do drive me up a wall!!!!!

Well, with that all being said, last year as the retreat had changed locations and we couldn't pick off the menu and only had three (3) dinner choices to make things easier, this crazy crafter made little "critters" to give to everyone to lay on the table to make it easier for the waitresses to get our foods correct. Last year, I had gone and did quite normal little "critters". With 30 plus women with three (3) dinner choices which have to be made at the beginning of this month, Gayle (aka quilting buddy) and I have found with previous years, they forget what they had ordered even from the menu when they see someone else's food!! Thus the little "critters" to avoid confusion!!! This year, since I can't go due to recent surgery and Doc said "NO!" <tearful sigh> and you're stuck with me for the weekend UNLESS, I can convince Jerry road trip to at least visit on Saturday! I went a little crazy shall we say with the "critters" and thought I would share with you!

Before, I continue I must inform you this may be one of my few projects that A Child's Year was not used!!! <grin> Surprise of all surprises!!!

The menu is fabulous to say the least --- first meal choice is a Pasta with shrimp and lobster bits. I used the Cricut Cartridge From My Kitchen cut at 2.75 inches and really didn't go crazy. Oh, did I mention that while I was doing the majority of this Susan Bermudez and I were on video chat which could have led to part of my craziness or me just wishing I was going! The jury is still out on that one! I'm not blaming Susan, far be it for me to do that as she is a sweetheart! But, you get two crafting by video chat with her embossing and me just "crazy" . . . The pasta is a pink polka dot left from my piggies!

The next meal choice is a Pork Chop which they stuff with apples which is to die for as I had that last year --- Can you say Pink Polka Dot Piggies three (3) times fast. These were also cut using my Cricut Cartridge From My Kitchen cut at 1.75 inches.

Now, by this time after just recovering from the flu and as you know I have this warped sense of humor. The last meal choice is a Chicken breast which is stuffed with an apricot stuffing which is also to die for as my quilting buddy and I pick a different meal and share as this way we get to try all three (3) during the weekend!! My cute little chicken were cut using my Cricut Cartridge 3 Birds on Parade and I call my little chickies "Chick-Cog-Neato!!!! Now, I must tell you that these little chickies have a mind of their own - I cut out 28 and lost 2 of them and somehow now have 29! (I'm not asking) and there are three (3) little chickie feet hiding somewhere in the vast space of the unknown which I probably will find on Sunday! These chickies have flown the coop!

I guess I settled down some and was working on a RAK (Random Acts of Kindness) and was finishing up and thought with the little paper packet I had created of fall papers needed a finishing touch after I put a little "belly band" around it. The one paper as you can see is a delightful paisley which automatically brought out my Cricut Cartridge Cindy Loo and cut a paisley from there at 2.25 inches and added a little gold rhinestone for a little bling bling! Now, I didn't know if my "partner" would want to use the paisley, sew, I just fastened it by rolling my tape and it can be removed - hope you enjoy Debi .....

Well, here's to a great crafting time!!! Hope you enjoy my little cuts that I played with. This is the first I had been crafting for a few days as that nasty flu bug knocked me on my "butt" but, I'm back . . .

Guest Designer Wednesday - Michelle

Today, I have a dear dear friend and inspiration Michelle Ferris as my Guest Designer to share with you today.
Michelle has designed a great Halloween Layout for her Great Niece.

If memory serves Michelle correctly, the paper is from the DCWV "The Ultimate
Premium Stack" plus paper from her stash!! The frames, witches hat, BOO, and the fence are all cut from the Happy Hauntings Cricut cartridge. The frames were cut at 4-inches using the shadow feature. The witches hat and fence were cut at 2-1/2 inches. Google eyes were used on some of the owls in the tree along with some Stickles for hi-lites which didn't show up very well in the pictures.  Also bones and skull and cross bones were used from a package from Michaels. These were two of Michelle's favorite pages in the album.

Isn't this a great layout - I thank you Michelle for being such a great Guest Designer!!! Congrats to Michelle for getting a new job and being such a dear friend!!!
God Bless!!!

Happy 5th Birthday Nicky

Nick just celebrated his 5th Birthday and had a Halloween Birthday Costume Party. It was such fun with the invitation saying to come in costume and of course, I was sort of in costume. Sasha kept asking where I kept that eye hiding and of course I entertained everyone with my warped and corny jokes such as "I see you"!

First I have to show you Jean's cake as she does bake the bestest cakes ever!!!

Now, for Nick's card --- I used Mini Monsters and cut out my little character at 4.25 inches and placed on Halloween Goblin Stack using of course A Child's Year cutting my card cut at 5.75 inches. The font in Happy Hauntings is now one of my favorite fonts and these were cut at .75 inches using black paper.

Now for the inside of the card, I used my Trick or Treat Rubber Stamp with black ink and colored in the flags with my colored pencils. I hand-wrote the balance of the card!

I hope you enjoy not only my bizarre sense of humor and costume but Jean's cake along with Nick's card! Thank you for stopping by!

***********************************************************
NOW, on to my next award! Some of my answers may be the same sew bear with me!!! This award was given to me by my dear friend, Susan

I was also tagged by Susan with this:

The criteria for this one is:

1. Post the button
2. Tell 10 things about yourself
3. Tag 5 bloggers

Here are my 10 things about me:

1. I have only been blogging since May of this year and crafting since January of last year. I'm a newbie!

2. I am the oldest of 4 children with a big difference of ages between us. My one brother is 5 years younger, my next brother is 10 years younger and my sister is 12 years younger!

3. I was a Girl Scout Leader and Trainer for 9 years.

4. I have a warped sense of humor. I have been known to break out in song lyrics or lyrics from movies and/or television if the mood strikes me or the conversation!

5. My favorite colors are red and teal just not together. Guess you could say mainly jewel tones.

6. I have been married 3 times. First marriage was a mess but I was blessed with my beautiful daughter, Jen who just became a mother of my beautiful granddaughter, Lily. My husband has 3 children. His son Jerry Jr has a son age 4 named Jerry III, and a daughter age 1 named Ashley. His oldest daughter Barbara who we affectionately call Cissy has a daughter by the name of Sasha who just turned 6 and loves to craft with Grammie Lynne. His younger daughter, Jean, has 2 adorable boys by the name of Zack who is 6 and will be 7 in April and Nick who just turned 5.

7. My first love was quilting but after shattering my left arm, that has become more difficult. I saw the Cricut on television and realized that the paper piecing is very similar to piecing quilting. Now with my paper piecing and quilting - I tend to do the wild thang and not the conventional!

8. I love Disney with my favorite movie, The Fox and the Hound with my favorite expression is "I'm A Hound dawg!" Okay, its not the same without the drawl . . . but you get my drift! My other favorite of Disney is of course Winnie the Pooh --- I have the tattoo to prove that on my upper right thigh . . . we'll just leave it at that for now!

9. I have always lived in Pittsburgh, PA. I had traveled in my much younger years with Youth for Christ retreats. And are you ready for this, I will be 60 next year and have never flown!!! Ok, I put that on my "bucket list"!!! LOL

10. I am very very blessed by the lovely crafty beautiful friends that I have met and made on line through blogging. Also, I can thank Kari who is the one who had inspired me to start a blog and was always inspired by Canadian Nickel and was thrilled to be a Guest Designer for her!

The 5 bloggers I am tagging are:

Congrats all and can't wait to read more about you all :) Until next time.....

God Bless

Boys and girls of every age, wouldn't you like to see something strange?  If you're a Tim Burton fan, you will recognize that line from "This is Halloween" -- a well-known song from the movie  "The Nightmare Before Christmas".  With Halloween just around the corner, this is the perfect time to celebrate all things Tim Burton!  We have a talented group of ladies on this weekend blog hop.  Join us as we each share a project inspired by one of Tim's quirky characters!

Now, on to the project I would like to share with you for Day Two:

Jearise, I must thank you because I forgot all about Tim Burton's Sleeping Hollow with the headless horseman and thus you inspired me!!!

The card I did for you today is showing my warped sense of humor.  I used of course A Child's Year Cricut cartridge to cut my card at 6.75 inches in 2 colors and cutting the second one in half. I cut the lettering on the outside at .75 inches using Happy Hauntings Cricut cartridge in black scrap paper.  The house and remainder of the pieces were all cut using Happy Hauntings Cricut Cartridge. The front house was cut at 5.50 -inches in a dark purple.

The inside house was cut at 4.75 inches with the background paper was embossed with the Skull Cuttlebug folder. The headless horseman was cut at 4.25 inches. The headless horseman is cut in layers (first dark green (grass), then purple (cape), then black (headless horseman and horse), orange is the pumpkin. The stamp on the inside on the left is Martha Stewart with her lime green ink says beware with ooze dripping!

Now for my warped sense of humor - the front says "enter if you dare"; "beware" "I left my head somewhere".

Please be sure to hop on over to Berenice's blog next for more Tim Burton fun!  If you get lost along the way, the complete blog hop lineup is below.  Thanks for stopping by !

Now, on to the project I would like to share with you for Day One:

I did a card for you using Jack Skellington from Simply Betty Stamps. With Tim Burton's movies, there were always trees that almost came to life -- I used the haunted tree with the moon using Cricut cartridge Happy Hauntings cut at 4.75 inches. And if you know me, my most favorite cartridge is A Child's Year as I love the card shapes that are available. The card from Ghost and Goblins Stack was cut using A Child's Year using the paper from  with the inside statement as a quote from Jack Skellington The Nightmare Before Christmas. "Just because I cannot see it, doesn't mean I can't believe it!"

Congrats to Kristin ---

I have another My Memory Suite project for you which was sew easy to create. Kristin got her acceptance letter yesterday for Pitt Johnstown!!!! YIPPEE!!! My sister, Beth, had Kristin's picture with acceptance letter posted on facebook which I snatched (snatched is such an ugly word, would rather use the word borrowed instead!) and created within 20 minutes!

The pictures and logo's of Pitt Johnstown were copied from their website. One of my favorite paper packs which I had used on the previous layouts with Kristin is Mothers and Daughters 2! I used the solid gingham which comes already installed for the ribbons. The "Pitt Johnstown Here I Come" is text art. The brads were from Mothers and Daughters 2 along with the background paper. The bead spill is an embellishment from All About Funk which I added 2 of these. I do see I have to play with the ivory gingham ribbon though to extend on the one side --- as Scarlett would say - "Tomorrow's another Day" to which Rhett would reply ..... oh well, you get my drift. <grin>

I still love the old-fashioned form of scrapbooking and love my Cricut but this gives me another great option for scapbooking albums that are quick and easy as I said 20 minutes and part of that was doing the Pitt Johnstown search!!!! I never thought I would like this let alone learn how to do but success is mine!

Congrats Kristin - I'm sew proud of you! Hugs and Love!

Thank you for stopping by and I hope you liked my project along with getting some inspiration!!!!!

God Bless
Hugs and Love,
Lynne
