Once Upon a Time in the Middle of The Woods There Were 3 Bears AND a New Challenge at Create and Inspire

It's a new challenge at Create and Inspire - Are you ready to "create" with us??? This challenge has an optional twist - sombre and happy!!!! We have for the challenge this week fabulous sponsors:

During my second marriage, we used to go camping at a local campground. There was an amazing couple that used to be there and I always enjoyed our campfires with them. They were called Mamma and Papa Bear (aka Bill and Shirley). One of the songs they had sung around the campfire was more of a rap or chant complete with hand signs - "Once upon a time in the middle of the woods there were 3 bears. One was the Papa bear (grrrr), one was the Mamma bear (squeal), and one was the baby bear (waaah). Along came the girl with the golden curl - she knocked on the door but no one was there. She walked on in because she didn't care!!!"

Thus came my cascade story card of the 3 Bears along with Goldilocks using Ikes Art Goldilocks and 3 Bears!!!!!

RECIPE and SUPPLIES:
  • background DCWV Old World Stack with DCWV The Heritage Stack for the other side following the tutorial at My Crafty Time
  • Goldilocks & 3 Bears was colored using Prisma Colored Pencils, Prisma Markers and gel pen accent
  • bears were cut using Cricut Heritage Stack varying the sizes -baby bear's bib was made using a circle punch and cutting a little bit away
  • baby bear's spoon was cut using Cricut From My Kitchen Cartridge
"Papa bear said someone has been eating my porridge (grrrr), Mamma bear said someone has been eating my porridge(squeal), and baby bear said someone has been eating my porridge and they ate it all gone(waaah)."
  • rocking chair was cut using Cricut Kate's ABC's cartridge
"Papa bear said someone has been sitting in my chair (grrrr), Mamma bear said someone has been sitting in my chair (squeal), and baby bear said someone has been sitting in my chair and they broke it all up (waaah)."
  • bed was cut using Cricut Everyday Paper Dolls Cartridge with some gel pen accents and pillow made just cutting an oval
"Papa bear said someone has been sleeping in my bed (grrrr), Mamma bear said someone has been sleeping in my bed (squeal), and baby bear said someone has been sleeping in my bed and there she is! (waaah)"
  • Papa and Mamma Bear have tiny little bows using Darice 1/8-inch satin ribbon
  • "All you need is LOVE and a teddy bear" had been a previous freebie from Create with TLC
  • bear on the bed, is a fabulous button from my stash
"Just then Goldilocks woke up, jumped outta bed and ran out the door!!!!"

TIP: to remove shanks from buttons, toe nail clippers work wonderful - I had been using Bob's but decided I had better get my own before I broke his - SHHHHH don't tell him!

Those campfire times with Shirley and Bill along with my daughter, Jen, and Bob (my 2nd husband not to be confused with who I am living with Bob) are wonderful memories and I thank you for allowing me to share them with you.

"Bye Bye said the Papa Bear (grrrr), Bye Bye said the Mamma Bear (squeal), and Bye Bye said the Baby Bear (waah) . . . And that's the story of the 3 Bears!"

Now, it's your turn to create for the challenge - I can't wait to see your creative inspirations!!!!

Dear Food - Dear Cheese Omelette

Sunday mornings have always been special for breakfast whether it be a Sunday Brunch or creating omelettes. Paulette had asked for samples with one of her digital images and word sets, Dear Food which I have created a few cards one of which I'm sharing with you today -

As you know, I think outside the litter box --- this card is no exception as I used two (2), yes, count them - 2 of Create with TLC images!!!!

    Recipe;
    • card was cut 5.5 x 11 inches and then folded in half using Recollection cardstock
    • "Rise and Shine make today divine!!!" is an older image from Create with TLC which was colored using Prisma Colored Pencils, Spectrum Noir Markers and gel pens and then chalked around the edges and set at a jaunty angle
    • spatulas were cut using Cricut From My Kitchen Cartridge
    • sunny side up eggs were cut using Cricut Just Because Cards Cartridge and chalked around the edges
    • broken eggs were cut using Cricut Martha Stewart Seasonal Cakes Cartridge and chalked around the edges and set on either side of the sentiment, "Dear cheese omelette: there is nothing better than being with you on Sunday morning." which is from Create with TLC Dear Food
Now, doesn't the yellow gingham remind you of an old-fashioned kitchen?? Now, who's ready for breakfast???

God Bless and Thanks for stopping by today. I appreciate and love reading your comments . . is your comment the next one I read???

    Much love, hugs, and friendship

The Stamping Chef Tutorial Thursday - Here's The Cook

Today is my first tutorial with The Stamping Chef and I'm thrilled to be doing this and hope you enjoy!! What better digi to use but the Chef!!

"Here is the Chef" is an interactive card I made for my sweetie for Valentine's Day.

    Now, for the recipe:
    • chef was colored with my Spectrum Markers along shading with Prisma Colored Pencils
    • his pants were colored withmy black gel pen as it was easier to make it look more like the checker pattern
    • his coat, hat, and salt shaker were just shaded and colored around the edges
    • card was cut using DCWV The Sweet Stack paper cut 6 x 12 inches and then scored at 6-inches using Martha Stewart Score Board
    • edges were rounded with my round corner punch
    • recipe cards were cut from page 32 using Cricut From My Kitchen Cartridge at 2-inches and then hole-punched on the upper left part of the tab using white Recollections
    • the words "spice", "blend", "whip", and "blend" were also cut using From My Kitchen Cartridge at 1.75 inches using black Recollections
    • "let's" and "things up" were cut using Make The Cut Partridge font, combined and welded
    • hole was punched approximately 1.5 inches in and 3-inches to attach the cute little red heart brad
    • "things up" were put on the inside of the card as the sentiment
What a fun little Valentine Card to give to my sweetie and let him decide with the interactive! Hope you enjoy and please leave comments as to how I could better improve doing tutorials.....

    Quilter's Weekend Retreat This Weekend!!!

One of my first passions was quilting - but after shattering my left arm in 2007 and having limited use of that hand due to the tendons having been replaced as they had shattered also - I have not been able to do the quilting that I would love to be doing!!! But, on the other hand, I have found another passion which is "scrapping" as there are many similarities as quilting especially with all the little pieces which sometimes, let me tell you they do drive me up a wall!!!!!

Well, with that all being said, last year as the retreat had changed locations and we couldn't pick off the menu and only had three (3) dinner choices to make things easier, this crazy crafter made little "critters" to give to everyone to lay on the table to make it easier for the waitresses to get our foods correct. Last year, I had gone and did quite normal little "critters". With 30 plus women with three (3) dinner choices which have to be made at the beginning of this month, Gayle (aka quilting buddy) and I have found with previous years, they forget what they had ordered even from the menu when they see someone else's food!! Thus the little "critters" to avoid confusion!!! This year, since I can't go due to recent surgery and Doc said "NO!" <tearful sigh> and you're stuck with me for the weekend UNLESS, I can convince Jerry road trip to at least visit on Saturday! I went a little crazy shall we say with the "critters" and thought I would share with you!

Before, I continue I must inform you this may be one of my few projects that A Child's Year was not used!!! <grin> Surprise of all surprises!!!

The menu is fabulous to say the least --- first meal choice is a Pasta with shrimp and lobster bits. I used the Cricut Cartridge From My Kitchen cut at 2.75 inches and really didn't go crazy. Oh, did I mention that while I was doing the majority of this Susan Bermudez and I were on video chat which could have led to part of my craziness or me just wishing I was going! The jury is still out on that one! I'm not blaming Susan, far be it for me to do that as she is a sweetheart! But, you get two crafting by video chat with her embossing and me just "crazy" . . . The pasta is a pink polka dot left from my piggies!

The next meal choice is a Pork Chop which they stuff with apples which is to die for as I had that last year --- Can you say Pink Polka Dot Piggies three (3) times fast. These were also cut using my Cricut Cartridge From My Kitchen cut at 1.75 inches.

Now, by this time after just recovering from the flu and as you know I have this warped sense of humor. The last meal choice is a Chicken breast which is stuffed with an apricot stuffing which is also to die for as my quilting buddy and I pick a different meal and share as this way we get to try all three (3) during the weekend!! My cute little chicken were cut using my Cricut Cartridge 3 Birds on Parade and I call my little chickies "Chick-Cog-Neato!!!! Now, I must tell you that these little chickies have a mind of their own - I cut out 28 and lost 2 of them and somehow now have 29! (I'm not asking) and there are three (3) little chickie feet hiding somewhere in the vast space of the unknown which I probably will find on Sunday! These chickies have flown the coop!

I guess I settled down some and was working on a RAK (Random Acts of Kindness) and was finishing up and thought with the little paper packet I had created of fall papers needed a finishing touch after I put a little "belly band" around it. The one paper as you can see is a delightful paisley which automatically brought out my Cricut Cartridge Cindy Loo and cut a paisley from there at 2.25 inches and added a little gold rhinestone for a little bling bling! Now, I didn't know if my "partner" would want to use the paisley, sew, I just fastened it by rolling my tape and it can be removed - hope you enjoy Debi .....

Well, here's to a great crafting time!!! Hope you enjoy my little cuts that I played with. This is the first I had been crafting for a few days as that nasty flu bug knocked me on my "butt" but, I'm back . . .

    God Bless

    Birthday Wishes Blog Hop

If you are here for the Link to Pink, please scroll down or take a few moments and check out the Birthday Wishes Blog Hop!!!!

Welcome to the Birthday Wishes Blog hop. Hi every one, I want to thank you for joining us today for Brenda’s birthday hop. Brenda’s turned a corner to 40 something and she has a lot of wishes right now.   Please make sure you leave some bloggy love at all the stops today. If you post on all the hops and follow hers and my blog you will be entered to win some blog candy from her!!!

If you've just popped in to visit my blog or are reading this via email and you'd like to join our Birthday Wishes blog hop, then please start here at the beginning with Rhonda. You should have just come from Lisa's blog. Brenda’s blog will be the last stop, so make sure you are commenting on everyone’s post before you get there.

First off - Happy Birthday Brenda! I've just met Brenda and she's a wonderful person and I had a great time making her birthday wishes!!!! Brenda loves the colors pink and purple and elephants! To start with, every birthday party and every birthday girl, deserves to wear a party hat. I think Brenda would look fabulous in a crown!!!! Now, this isn't any ordinary crown - it's a crown with "elephant walk" which was cut from Once Upon a Princess for the crown and the elephants were cut from New Arrival using Linen and Lace paper for the crown and scraps for my elephants cut at 1-1/2 inches. The crown is glitzed with rhinestones and Brenda, don't worry as it's adjustable and I'm sure it will fit!!!!

Brenda, what would your birthday be without a birthday card!!!! For this birthday card, I used the Lines and Lace paper again along with Debbie Mumm's Noah's Ark for the drink. I used From My Kitchen and New Arrival cartridges. The pink elephants were cut at 1-1/2 inches and the Pink Lady drink was cut at 5-inches with not any olive but a purple olive!!!! I used Glossy Accents for the star on the glass! I guess it depends on how many birthday drinks before we start seeing pink elephants and I guess I must have had enuf for two pink elephants! <Grin>!

The inside sentiment for the card is "You're only young once. You can be immature for a lifetime!" This I know is true as I still haven't grown up and still don't have a clue as to what I want to be when I grow up!

What's a blog hop without candy - I have a package of Darice Hot Pink Self-Stick Gems and Creative Imaginations Chipboard Embellishments for your scrapping pleasure by leaving a comment and if you're not already a follower, please become a follower and leaving a message on the Birthday Girl's Blog.

Now head on over to Kathy for more birthday love!
