I've been a crafter it seems forever from when I was a little girl learning how to knit and crochet with my grandmother and my aunt; sitting under a quilting loom threading needles for Gram and the ladies at church; learning to sew, quilt, doll sculpting, counted cross stitch and now onto paper piecings with cards and lay-outs!!!! I guess you could say I'm a well-rounded gal in more ways than one!!! LOL

Papercrafts Presents 365 Cards magazine which is our inspiration for these monthly hops which thus became the Calendar Girls. The magazine has Creative Ideas for every day of the year: occasions, holidays, and celebrations including 42 unique holidays!!! These unique holidays are our inspiration. The January unique holidays are:
- Trivia Day (January 4) - Lynne: http://slasewcraftiness.blogspot.com/
- National Bird Day (January 5) - Janet: http://ladyluvbug.blogspot.com/
- National Hat Day (January 15) - Edwina - http://edwinascreations.blogspot.com/
- Martin Luther King Jr. Day (January 16) -
- National Popcorn Day (January 19) - Lynne: http://slasewcraftiness.blogspot.com/
- Chinese New Year (January 23) - Michelle Ferris: http://slasewcraftiness.blogspot.com/
- Opposite Day (January 25) - Lynne: http://slasewcraftiness.blogspot.com/
My projects for you today include the following events: January 4th - Trivia Day. For my card, I went to the internet and googled "trivia" which gave me the front of my card. Background paper is cut from Generation Tech Stack. The inside of the card, I added some scrappies along with giving the information regarding trivia day!!!!
My second card for you is Martin Luther King Jr. Day which is January 16th. I stamped a butterfly from Jenni Bowlin Studio and then colored with my Prisma pencils. I also added the word "Dream" from Studio 112 which was inspired from Martin Luther King's speech, "I have a Dream" but it was made into a notecard for a special friend!!!
My third card is for National Popcorn Day is January 19th - what a great date night, movie and a box of popcorn to share! The background was cut from The Snack Stack. Doesn't the popcorn look yummy, extra butter just as I like it!! The popcorn box was cut using Make the Cut and placed on a black background as a pop-up card with pieces of the popcorn cut from the scraps around the popcorn box!
My fourth and final card is for Opposite Day on January 24th which is a fun event where everything you say is the opposite of what you mean!!! The front of my card, I did various Cricut cuts for night/day, ying/yang, up/down, black/white. The inside of the card, I have wished you a "unhappy opposite day" with big/little and circle/square! This is a fun event/holiday for kids as they really get into this!!!
Now, how cute would it be to send any of these cards to an adorable youngster or set up a special date night theme?

Birthday Wishes Blog Hop

Welcome to the Birthday Wishes Blog hop. Hi every one, I want to thank you for joining us today for Brenda’s birthday hop. Brenda’s turned a corner to 40 something and she has a lot of wishes right now. Please make sure you leave some bloggy love at all the stops today. If you post on all the hops and follow hers and my blog you will be entered to win some blog candy from her!!!
If you've just popped in to visit my blog or are reading this via email and you'd like to join our Birthday Wishes blog hop, then please start here at the beginning with Rhonda. You should have just come from Lisa's blog. Brenda’s blog will be the last stop, so make sure you are commenting on everyone’s post before you get there.
First off - Happy Birthday Brenda! I've just met Brenda and she's a wonderful person and I had a great time making her birthday wishes!!!! Brenda loves the colors pink and purple and elephants! To start with, every birthday party and every birthday girl, deserves to wear a party hat. I think Brenda would look fabulous in a crown!!!! Now, this isn't any ordinary crown - it's a crown with "elephant walk" which was cut from Once Upon a Princess for the crown and the elephants were cut from New Arrival using Linen and Lace paper for the crown and scraps for my elephants cut at 1-1/2 inches. The crown is glitzed with rhinestones and Brenda, don't worry as it's adjustable and I'm sure it will fit!!!!
Brenda, what would your birthday be without a birthday card!!!! For this birthday card, I used the Lines and Lace paper again along with Debbie Mumm's Noah's Ark for the drink. I used From My Kitchen and New Arrival cartridges. The pink elephants were cut at 1-1/2 inches and the Pink Lady drink was cut at 5-inches with not any olive but a purple olive!!!! I used Glossy Accents for the star on the glass! I guess it depends on how many birthday drinks before we start seeing pink elephants and I guess I must have had enuf for two pink elephants! <Grin>!
The inside sentiment for the card is "You're only young once. You can be immature for a lifetime!" This I know is true as I still haven't grown up and still don't have a clue as to what I want to be when I grow up!
What's a blog hop without candy - I have a package of Darice Hot Pink Self-Stick Gems and Creative Imaginations Chipboard Embellishments for your scrapping pleasure by leaving a comment and if you're not already a follower, please become a follower and leaving a message on the Birthday Girl's Blog.

Calgon Take Me Away . . .
Now, with all this being said, this week's challenge is with a "freebie" rolled roses svg cut. Well, those who have gottent o know me know empatically that I'm not a "flowery" "glitzy" type person and love the jewel tone colors. Well, yes, I did make flowers. Get up off the floor, the shock will subside in a bit!!! I did make a few roses but I did add some of the flowers I had won from one of their previous challenges and thought what better purrfect place to use them than to honor this their last challenge!!!
I know, I'm rambling but now for my project --- I used Febie Kindness from Creative Kuts and it was just time for her to relax - forget not only the little things but the big things and let her worries be carried away by the "bubbles".....
Febie is just laying in the tub cut from the Cricut Cartridge New Arrival just chillin and relaxing on a field of flowered paper. I used Inksentials Glossy Accents to add the "bubble" irriedescent seed beads (and to think I used to quilt using those tiny little beads is astounding me right now!) with little rolled purple roses that I had made along with the aqua flowers which I had won!!!
God Bless and here's to a great week of chillin', relaxin'
and letting the "bubbles" lift our cares away!!!
Hugs and Love
Lynne
