Sunbonnet Sue with Mother's Day Wishes with new Challenge at Crafty Gals Corner

Welcome to Crafty Gals Corner's challenge this week with the theme being Stripes and/or Polka Dots. Bugaboo Digi Stamps is our fabulous sponsor offering 7 images of the winner's choice.

For my inspiration today, I chose Bugaboo Sewing Sunbonnet Thimble with a fabulous charm of Sunbonnet Sue herself from Miriam's Crafting Supplies since I'm an "old sew'n sew!".

RECIPE and SUPPLIES:
  • yellow Recollection card stock as the base of my A2 sized-card with an adorable quilt patterned paper from my scraps as my background with yellow gingham border using Martha Stewart Eyelet Border Punch
  • Baker's Twine tied to the needle
  • Sunbonnet Sue charm from Miriam's Crafting Supplies
  • sentiment, "Mother, the ribbons of your love are woven around my heart. Author Unknown" was a sentiment Kathi Silvia has posted as a possible sentiment for 613 Design Team members to use - sentiment has rounded corners and is chalked around the edges
  • Sunbonnet Sue was colored with Prisma Colored Pencils, Copic RV21 Markers with gel pen accents and fussy cut around the edges
  • sentiment on the inside of card, "Happy Mother's Day", was a sentiment Kathi Silvia has posted as a possible sentiment for 613 Design Team members to use - background matches the front with the adorable quilt patterned paper from my scraps as my background with yellow gingham border using Martha Stewart Eyelet Border Punch with rounded corner sentiment which was chalked around the edges

Under the Sea Recycled Treasure Chest for Open Minded Crafting Fun Challenge!

Recently at Open Minded Crafting Fun Challenges the challenge was to "recycle" for Challenge #34. The images I was working with were Andrea's Little Pixels Lil May Mermaid Set which are adorable as they are pre-colored!!!!

I'm a herbal hot-tea drinker and for some odd reason, I have this habit of saving my empty herbal tea boxes. WELL, looking at this Twining empty box of tea, it looked like a treasure chest and it all fell together along of course with me singing "Under the Sea" from the Little Mermaid!!! Thus this became -

This:

RECIPE and SUPPLIES:
  • covered empty tea box with www.coordinations cardstock as it reminded me of wood
  • metal embellishments and pearls are from Miriam's Crafting Supplies
  • mermaid is on a piece of fishing twine that when you open the chest, she comes up to visit your
  • gems behind mermaid were from Becca Dawn which she had put in my birthday card and are Darice
  • seahorse, clam shell, and mermaid have Stickle accents and are chalked around the edges
My apologies for not having this posted sooner but life has gotten in my way with getting ready to move my furniture and final things to where I am living and physical and mental exhaustion. I promise to be better but I just had to share with you my Under the Sea Adventure and now, let's all sing along:

I can't wait to see what your creations are. Don't forget to link your projects for a chance to win from the fabulous sponsors!!!!!

Vintage Rick St. Dennis 1935 Hat with a new challenge at Crafty Gals Corner

Welcome to Crafty Gals Corner's challenge this week with the theme being VintageWe have Rick St. Dennis as our fabulous sponsor this week offering 2 digital images or 25 percent off Zibbet Store

For my inspiration today, I chose Rick St. Dennis 1935 Hat as it was quite reminiscent of my beautiful grandmother and her two sisters, Lila and Lillian. I remember them getting dressed with a fancy hat complete with aa feather, stickpin and a veil whether it be going to the airport for a trip or church. Below is a picture of my gram and my pap dressed to the 9's:

isn't she beautiful and isn't she a wonderful inspiration for my card???

    RECIPE and SUPPLIES:
    • cream Recollection card stock as the base of my card and a beautiful soft pink floral as my background
    • Martha Stewart Eyelet Border Punch on the right side
    • Darice Satin Edged Organza ribbon with Queen & Co. pearls
    • she was colored with Prisma Colored Pencils with gel pen accents and fussy cut around the edges and of course Stickles
    • chiffon flower with a cameo button in the center with a stickpin using Antique Bronze Wing from Miriam's Craft Supplies but my marvelous stash!

**** I knew I had these chiffon flowers in several colors and for the life of me I couldn't find the dang things!!! Low and Behold this lone pink one was found in the nick of time which most definitely compliments the card. I hear you asking where was it found - WELL, it was found in the bag of feathers. What does a chiffon flower want with a bag of feathers. All I know is they were meant to be together! ***

    • feather from a goodie bag from Kimberly Pate with Stickle accents

***added note these feathers need to be hidden and sometimes not found because of a certain kittie thinks its a bird and digs through this bag and feathers are found every where!!!!***

    • scraps from the front of card were used for the background with Martha Stewart Eyelet Border Punch and 3 little flowers using Fisker's Burst Punch with Queen & Co. Pearl centers
