Is it a Bird . . . Is it a Plane . . . No, it's ------

Merry Merry Blessed Christmas!!!!

Is it a bird, is it a plane, NO, its Super Alex!!!!

My dear friend Susan Bermudez's husband Alex is her Superman!!!! She had wanted a Santa Hat and stocking for him with Superman logo!!!  Super Lynne, found a logo which would work on the computer and then made a pattern for the hat and pulled out my vintage and worn stocking pattern. For the fabric, I used a polar fleece for each of the colors. The stocking is fully lined as the other stockings were lined. His hat along with his stocking both have his name embroidered with gold thread via my home embroidery machine. The pom pom on the hat began its life a a yo yo, gathered it tightly together and put fiberfill inside and pulled tighter to stitched on the hat!

I love how the Superman logo has the added dimension using the fiber fleece. There is just a small zig zag holding the applique together!!!

Also, take some time and stop off and tell Susan, you saw her "Superman" here on Her Craftiness!!!

Well, Merry Merry Christmas my dear friends. Enjoy the day as it is meant to be with family and friends and remember the reason we celebrate this day!!!

God Bless you all and thank you for taking the time to read my blog! I sew appreciate you following along and leaving your kind comments!!!

The Tradition of Mrs. Claus

I don't know how this tradition started but I can tell you before I had my girls, I had a friend who asked me to make jammies for her two daughters. You see, Mrs. Claus between the baking makes Christmas jammies for special children. Mrs. Claus makes sure the jammies are delivered before you go to bed and this is the only present you are able to open Christmas Eve. Now, these aren't just any jammies, they are special magical jammies that Mrs. Claus weaves loves, and wonderful dreams into the fabric!

Now, I have a precious granddaughter, the tradition continues. Jenny was thrilled to know that Lily, too will have her special jammies from Mrs. Claus. The other tradition is not only do you get the Christmas jammies from Mrs. Claus, but you also get a nightcap!!!! I have a precious model to show you the hat . . .

We met Jen and Lily at Eat'n Park for breakfast today and as you can see, Lily loved her hat and in fact, didn't want to take it off!!!!

Now onto business --- the jammies for my grannddaughter that Mrs. Claus made just for her with the cute little snowman with snowflake buttons!!!

I can't wait to see Lily Christmas morning. The tradition of Mrs. Claus continues.

May you have sweet dreams of sugar plums, unicorns, and all things beautiful!!!

God Bless you on the day before Christmas with the magic of it all!!!

The Stockings Were Hung

No paper crafting to showcase today, but I do have the story of magical fabric crafting!!

When I was growing up the Christmas stocking held magic. Times may have been lean, but there was always wonders in our Christmas stocking - a stick of peppermint, a can of our favorite soup, a packet of hot chocolate, marshmallows to go with our hot chocolate, pencils, crayons --- sew many wonders could fit in that stocking that was hung by the chimney with care -- at the top, there would always be some sort of soft toy whether it be a stuffed animal, a dolly, or . . . just let your imagination run wild what can fit in that stocking. . . but the best part would always be the orange -- a wondrous orange that you would peel and eat while opening your presents or just watching everyone else open theirs!!!!

When Jenny was little, the stocking held magic for her!!! She loved her Christmas stocking the best no matter what wonders Santa would bring to her!!!! Growing up the stocking would hold various items when little from pencils, crayons, erasers, a new book, coloring book, and then as she got older to make-up, make-up remover to bras and panties!!!! Amazing how Mrs. Claus would help Santa pick the purrfect color, size and wonder in the stocking!!! Of course the magical orange would always be hidden somewhere in that stocking. And Jenny would always hurry and search for the orange to have it peeled for her to eat while opening her presents! I would always make the stockings for her and as times would change and she would get older, stocking styles would change. Needless to say, I have one fantastic collection of stockings in my Christmas collection!!!

When Jenny and Dan had their first Christmas together, her request for her present was to make her and Dan matching stockings with their names embroidered on top. I have the magic of one of those computerized embroidery machines that helps me perform this!!! Sew, of course, I made Jenny and Dan their stockings for their first Christmas and hid inside the magic of the orange along with an ornament with their names on for each of them!!!

Now, with little one, my precious grand-daughter, Lily, Jenny again requested new stockings as only her mom can do - she wanted matching stockings for her, Dan, and Lily with one extra one started if and when they have a second child with of course their names embroidered on top. But this time, she didn't want her and Dan's names - no, she wanted "mom" and "dad" for their loving new roles.

With my much worn pattern in hand, new stockings were created to hold the magic and wonder of a stocking for Lily. My stockings though the fabric may change, always, consist of a layer of batting, lining and of course the embroidered cuff!!

Well, I don't have a fireplace and my magnet aren't hung on the door yet to hang my stocking -- I did the next best thing to showcase their stockings to share with you - I put on pin on my couch!!

Now, Dan's sister just had a little one and committed the ultimate mistake according to Jenny - she purchased a stocking for her little one!!!! Jenny told her, of course, that her mother makes beautiful stockings and I was asked to make one for Dan's sister and husband to match their little one's stocking and of course have the words "mom" and "dad" embroidered on top with the cuff!

As I said, the fabrics change, but the sentiment and the magic with the wonder is always there.

We took the stockings over for Jenny the other night that she might hang and continue the tradition with Lily.

Now, being only 9 months old now, Lily knew just what to do -- her chubby little hand reached into her stocking and to her amazement pulled out a little dolly just her size for Lily's first Christmas!!!

Jenny assured me that she bought the oranges that go inside but for little Lily, it will be a banana as she absolutely adores bananas as her and Grandma shared a banana the other night!!!!!

May the magic of Christmas be in your homes this Christmas whether it be in the magical stocking, the orange, or the treasures - always hold the magic of Christmas in her heart!!!

God Bless
Hugs, Love, and Pixie Dust!

For my project today, I want to take you back to my "roots' per-say, I was brought up in a small Congregational Church where the members were of German descent. As I had said previously on another post, I had learned my hymns including my Christmas hymns in German as compared to English which was rather odd in the mid 50's.

Christmas was always a grand time in the church, but with this theme, what came to mind is the little children at the end of our Christmas program would always hold a special part with Santa helping. Mrs. Logue would bring out a cake with a candle in it and the youngest children would sing "Happy Birthday" with the "Happy Birthday dear Jesus, we always love you!" Then either Mrs. Logue or Santa; shhhh don't tell anyone but the man behind the suit would be my grandfather; would blow out the candle, of course with the children helping, and everyone would enjoy Jesus' birthday cake.

Now with drawing on my memory - I baked for you a birthday cake to Jesus using my Sweet Treats Cricut Cartridge cut at 5.5-inches using Mrs. Claus' Kitchen Stack of paper and glossy accents on the frosting that just makes you want to swipe your finger through the frosting.

The inside of my cake, I inserted a picture of who the celebration is about, Jesus. For this, I cut the prism hologram blue paper and baby Jesus cut from the Winter Frolic Cricut cartridge cut at 2.75 inches. Now, one thing I do not like with the cartridge is baby Jesus, his blanket and the star are all cut from one cut. I guess you could say to avoid frustration, I cut these in white and then colored and shaded with my prism pencils.

I hope I took you back to a happy time in my memories of my little German church and the birthday party for Jesus and a reminder who this season is for - Happy Birthday Jesus, I always will love you!

Now, Hippity Hop on over to Enjoli to see her Fabulous Creation Today!

God Bless everyone and Merry Christmas!!!

For the hop today, my project is a cut from Creative Kuts, titled Friends are the Best Present and cut the wreath at 6-inches. What makes her designs wonderful, she uses a dot that you can measure all parts to be sure the pieces are all fit! The paper for my wreath is The Ballet Paper Stack.

I used puff tape between the layers. I have 2 layers of cereal boxes and then the paper. Between the 2 layers is a frosted transparent paper and the "shaker" is hearts because Christmas is about "love"

My bow also has puff dots to make the bow look fluffy and add dimension. Dimension is also added to the ornaments on the wreath with Gloss Accents.

I punched holes in the top and added a binder ring along with ribbons that coordinated with my paper. Two of the ribbons, I had received from Deborah Foti from a RAK ribbon exchange and were purrrfect for this project.

When you lift the top of my wreath you can still see the hearts behind the frosted paper.

The other side has Raggedy Ann and Andy in their Christmas finery. What good outfit doesn't include a plaid with a dressy collar and cuff!. Papers were from my scrap bin. The holly on their hats are gems that I had in my stash also and added 3 dots for the berries on each hat with Stickles. Their faces were drawn on with Gel Pens and Markers.

Now, the back of my "card" was feeling a bit lonely and just demanded some decoration also. I cut the words "Merry Christmas" using the Christmas Cheer Cricut Cartridge cutting at 2.25-inches.

I hope you enjoyed my shaker card and thank you again for checking out my project... Now follow the links below and remember to visit all the stops for MAXIMUM ideas and LOTS OF FUN!!

Happy Birthday Jesus - Guest Designer for Kari Sanchez

Another wonderful day in blogland as I am Kari's Guest Designer - woo hoo 2 days in a row - for her Faith Song For His Glory. I have chosen a song that I know others have sung but personally, I love the version by Alabama - Happy Birthday Jesus.

For my project, I made a gift for Jesus as the words say, this song is just for you; there is a gift for everyone but you -- it is the gift of Jesus and a gift for Jesus.

This is a slider card using the gift package from the Cricut Cartridge Simply Charmed cut at 5.75-inches using Mrs. Claus' Kitchen Paper Stack, the black paper is from Michael's in their 8.5x 11-inch, and I used the prism hologram paper for the bow with the bakery twine (thank you Edwina Brown) tied gift tag.

When you slide open the card, it shows my gift for you -- the gift of Jesus. Baby Jesus was cut at 2.75-inches from Cricut Cartridge Christmas Frolic. Now, I cut all pieces from scraps but I cut Baby Jesus face and blanket out of white paper and then shaded the paper. The background paper is from Michael's and is a Reflections Hologram .

Well, I hope you enjoy not only my song I chose but my special gift for you! Merry Christmas and thank you Kari and be sure to stop by and give her some bloggie love!

God Bless

His belly contains snowflakes and glitter when shook.

I love him and think he's adorable and hope you do also.

Thank you Kari for giving me the privilege to post on your page today.

Faith Song for His Glory - Ihr Kinderlein, Kommet

Hi Everyone, sew glad you stopped by today for Faith Song for His Glory with our favorite Christmas carol. I love to listen to music and Christmas songs and now they are on the radio in November right after Thanksgiving. I know a lot of you have your favorites that you love this special time of the year! We have to remember the true reason of Christmas as Jesus is the true reason we celebrate

Today there is a grand prize which is given by:

my gift is for you to know HIM...so with that said please follow the rules and comment on my blog and I will draw the winner of hop by random.org...and please give all the talented designer on my hop some love and Christmas wishes would be nice! Some have e-mail notifications you can sign up for to keep up with their happenings of their blog and we would love to have you as followers too but not required.

If you just happened upon my blog today, I wouldn't want you to miss a single song, sew please start with Kari and if you traveled to me in this sing-a-long from Carolyn, then you are in the right place! SEW . . . have fun hopping and getting in the mood for Christmas!

My song is a German song, "Ihr Kinderlein Kommet" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VK6zlHG_NSA0), I had learned in a small Congregational Church with the majority members were of German descent. I had learned my hymns in German prior to learning them in English. The English version of this hymn is "Oh Come Little" Children"(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h7Yds7yiiIE&feature=related). You have probably heard this song but never realized what it was.

I had made a pop-up card using a new paper that I had purchased at Michael's called Recollections, The Ballet which is featuring "The Nutcracker". I made the card using the English version. On the cover of the card are children which were cut from A Child's Year Cricut cartridge at 2.25 inches. The lettering is cut from the built-in cartridge from my E2 Alphabet.

The card is cut at 7-inches with a 1-inch snip from either side at 3-inches. With this little slit, you need to fold it separately to make a little box in the inside. This little box is holding the stable upright when the card is open. The stable was cut from the Paper Doll Dress Cricut Cartridge. Paper at 3.5 inches and then inked with burgundy and black ink. Baby Jesus was cut from the Winter Frolic Cricut Cartridge. I got out my stickles and glittered glittered glittered the halo around Baby Jesus and the star which the Wisemen followed.

Your next stop along your choral ways is Zenita for another wonderful project and song!

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget the love and I wish you and yours a "Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year! "

God Bless
Hugs and Love,
Lynne

Now, my Secret Sister is the best --- I know everyone is saying that but I can say with the utmost conviction that I got the best Secret Sister of anyone. She has a heart of gold, compassionate, loving, caring, very very very crafty and an inspiration!!!! Oh yeah, I guess you're right, everyone is this group can be described that way!!!! <LOL>!!

For my Secret Sister since she's sew sweet I made a box card to start with. I first heard and saw this back on Amy Voltz's blog and have now made quite a few. I do, however, highly recommend that you have a score board to just make life easier and I'm say this from experience as I don't have one (Santa, did you get my hint????) To follow and make one of your own, please go here! These are great for gift cards, small gifts such as earrings, jewelry and what I made for my Secret Sister!!

Now, look how cute this is when you take off the belly band and see the treasure this holds .... The paper for my box card is Mrs. Claus' Kitchen.

Oops, do you see something peeking out --- well, I guess if you promise not to tell, I can show you what's inside . . . my friends and I used to have an ornament exchange as there was nothing that we particularly needed (ok, I still want the score board!). The rules were simple, we had to make the same ornament for everyone in our group AND it had to be homemade!!! I love ornaments and especially pulling these out year after year and having fond memories!

For my Secret Sister, I did just that and used the Gingerbread Seasonal Cricut Cartridge and cut these adorable, but not edible ornaments, at 3.75 inches from brown cardstock and the tasty glittery icing is Darice self-stick glitter paper. Now, just a warning in advance -- there is glittery everywhere - my pants, T-shirt, socks, hair, and floor; not necessarily in that order but it does look like icing and I'm pleased with the effect. Also, since I didn't want the backs to be lonely and plain, I used the balance of the cut that wasn't the icing outline on the back to reflect tree lights! A hole punch at a jaunty angle and some iridescent ribbon completes the ensemble!

Also, since I didn't want the backs to be lonely and plain, I used the balance of the cut that wasn't the icing outline on the back to reflect tree lights! A hole punch at a jaunty angle and some iridescent ribbon completes the ensemble!

They almost look good enuf to eat and I hope she enjoys them!!!

Now, your next stop along the way is my dear and wonderful friend Susan to show her creativity!!!!

Thank you again sew very much for stopping by today and please don't forget to leave some bloggie love!

Merry Christmas and God Bless
Hugs and Love,
Lynne
