Suzy Bee's Bloomin' Challenge #44 for August 30th

This week at Suzy B's Blooming Challenge Blog our wonderful sponsor is Di's Digi Stamps. Of course it's Anything Goes!!!!!

As a Design Team Member, I was remarking on a participant's, LORRAINE of Rainey's Craft Room, beautiful project that she had submitted for the challenge and came upon a unique item - a post-it-note holder which is super easy and I fell in love with it and just had to try to make one!!!!

For my post-it-note holder, I used Create with TLC Learned from Alice Mad Hatter and Miriam's Crafting Supplies Large Alice in Wonderland Charm and viola within 15 minutes, I had an adorable Post-it Note Holder!!!!

SUPPLIES:
  • one (1) sheet 8-1/2 x 11 sheet cardstock
  • one (1) image for front
  • one (1) 3 x 3 post-it-notes (Dollar Store Special) - counts as Office Supplies
  • one (1) small pen (I found 3 in a package at JoAnn Fabrics that were attached to a key ring which gave me the jump ring - counts as Office Supplies
  • one (1) charm (optional and only if pen has optional jump ring on cap
RECIPE:
  • I cut purple Recollection cardstock 7-3/8 x 3-1/4 inches and you can get 3 post-it-note holders from one sheet cardstock
  • score at 3-1/8 inch (this is the front), 3-1/2 inch, and 3-7/8 inches
  • fold at the 3-1/2 inch and make 2 small snips about 1/2-inch from the top and one from the bottom - this holds your pen
  • use sticky tape at the top and bottom on the back - this makes the pen holder pop out as you glue the 3-7/8 inch score to the back
  • use sticky tape to attach post-it-note-package to back
  • opposite of post-it-note, I got extra creative and used a scrap piece of hydrangea paper with Create with TLC Tea Hug in a Cup sentiment which was a previous freebie
  • Create with TLC Learned from Alice Mad Hatter was colored using Spectrum Noir markers with accents with gel pen (I got super creative here and scanned my finished Mad Hatter before I attached him to my post-it-note holder that I can print 4 on a sheet and make 4 more of these exact ones!)

I can't wait to make more now and thinking how great for Rosie's church craft table in November . . . .

I thank you for stopping by and visiting today. Don't forget to showcase your project on Susy B's Blooming Challenge Blog this week to enter in the Challenge!!! It's anything goes with no size restrictions . . . . let your imagination run wild!!!! I can't wait to see your creations!

My Guardian Angel

"For God commands the angels
to guard you in all your ways.
Psalm 91"

Today is a rough day for me . . . . I have a very special guardian angel that watches over me . . . . my precious baby daughter, Amalia (Molly), who touched a lot of lives in her 25 months of life! I was blessed as the doctor's had given her only 3 to 6 months. Today would have been her 25th birthday and I sit and reflect as to what she would have been like as an adult . . . what she would be doing with her life . . .

RECIPE:
. . .  just wanted to share the picture of my beautiful angel

Lots was going on in my mind when I created this card - Van Morrison's Moon Dance, a special challenge at Kit and Clowder with Fun Hair Combos and I couldn't sleep. • background is scored at 4.25 and 6.375 inches
  • Lacy Sunshine Wix Sitting on the Moon was colored using Spectrum Noir Markers with gel accents, Stickles on the moon, the candle light, her wings, and through her hair with rounding the corners and chalking the edges
  • sentiment, "Be like the moon . . . take time to reflect", was a freebie from Create with TLC with rounding the corners and chalking the edges
  • stars are buttons which were added
  • and of course, Wix is on a wobble as she is sitting on the moon!

Hippie Spirit

What was I thinking???? Here I have an ATC card that not only I decorated with vintage lace BUT also colored Lacy Sunshine Hippie Eleanor!!!

An ATC (Artist Trading Card) is card measuring 2.75 x 3.5 inches. Every now and then, I do try to make one and here is my interpretation:

RECIPE:
  • ATC was cut using Recollection white cardstock measuring 2.75 x 3.5 inches and then covered with DCWV Girl Stack
  • Lacy Sunshine Hippie Eleanor was colored using Prisma Colored pencils with gel accents
  • tiny itsy bitsy flowers measure only .5 inches and were cut using Cricut Plantin Cartridge with yellow pearls from Queen & Co.
  • peace symbol was cut using Make the Cut
  • vintage yellow lace on the bottom is from my stash when I used to make doll clothes when my daughter was little - should I mention that she now is 33 years old
  • using Darice orange ribbon was tied into a bow
She reminds me of my niece, Kristin, who should have been born in the 70's as she has a hippie spirit! Don't you think there is a resemblance???

I Wish for you Hugs when spirits sag . . .

On Lacy Sunshine on Facebook, a challenge along with a free digital image was offered. Of course, I took the gauntlet and here's my version of Octavia Melancholoy offering hugs for a very special friend with a great deal of issues going on in her life. I'm asking for unspoken prayers for her.

RECIPE:
  • card is a 6 x 6 inch card using DCWV Le Tres Chic
  • backgrounds were cut 5.75 inch using Recollections Fashionable Chic and 5.5 inch from my fabulous scraps
  • image was colored using Spectrum Noir Markers with gel accents and then rounding the corners and chalking the edges
  • sentiment, "I wish for you HUGS when spirits sag", was a freebie from Create with TLC with rounding the corners and chalking the edges
  • gate was cut using Cricut Ornamental Iron 2 Cartridge, Lace 1 found on page 50 cut to 5.5 inches using a fall leaf print which I found in my stash - I think it gives the look of betina
  • brown pearls were added to the gate and yellow pearls for the center of the flowers on her hat from Queen & Co.
  • for some odd reason, I'm into adding feathers to hats which my friend, Kimberly Pate, had sent me a big ziploc baggie with feathers
  • paper roses are from Michael's Dollar bin

I was in a peach and pastel mode when coloring her and really like how it turned out and hope you do too!!!

Shades of Beauty

I'm sew excited and thrilled to be able to use this word art which is one of Paulette's Create with TLC newest creations: Shades of Beauty.

Guess, it's the overachiever in me but I am doing this image two (2) ways first being that of a journal cover:

RECIPE:
  • paper background is DCWV Girlhood Stack which was cut to size for my notebook
  • butterflies were embellished with Stickles and adding "bling" from the dollar bin at Michael's along with black pearls from Queen & Co. for their antennae
  • image was colored with Spectrum Nor Markers with chalking around the edges
  • Queen & Co. pearls came to the rescue again with out-lining the image
  • flowers in bottom left corner was another dollar find from Michael's
  • Darice Satin Edged Organza ribbon is glued under the background to tie the journal together when finished
  • upper corner is a Large Ornate Bronze Corner piece from Miriam's Crafting Supplies which is the best place to find those great embellishments to use on your projects
I loved loved loved this image sew very much that I just had to print it on a piece of fabric also

RECIPE:
  • paper was fused onto a heavy-weight craft bond interfacing and then cut 8.5 x 11 inches
  • image was selected and printed using my Canon 4-Way Ink Jet Printer
  • image was then colored using my Spectrum Noir Markers with hi-lights using Zig pens
  • to finish and make your image permanent get waxed paper and press with no steam on a low iron with the waxed paper, image face down, and press on the side of your fabric with the fusible craft interfacing
I just love this other option but just can't decide what to do with it now - I have a few options and asking for your assistance in how to finish this fabric printed digi:
  1. make into a tote bag
  2. make into a vintage wall-hanging
  3. create a denim vintage jacket around this piece with this being the center back

Let me know what you think and some lucky person may just win the above journal.

Susy B's Blooming Challenge Blog: Happy Birthday to You

The secret is outta the bag - I've been asked to be part of Suzy B's Blooming Challenge Blog where she has weekly challenges with wonderful prizes. This is my first post with her Design Team!!!!

This week's sponsor is Stitchy Bear and I have used Stitchy Bear Birthday Word Art for my creation . . .

RECIPE:
  • background of card was made using Cricut Life's a Party Cartridge which was inspired by Paper Pasttimes of a Scrapping Mimi: Just a Note for Mom. I must admit after looking at her card, the image on page 48 looks more like a baby grand piano than anything else I can think of - what do you think???
  • image was accented with red gel pen with an oval cut as it's mat which was placed on my "piano" with a wobble to make it look like it's actually playing or singing or . . . . ok, my imagination is in overdrive!!!
  • keys for the piano were cut following Paper Pasttimes cutting instructions - white keys were cut 2 by 1.25 inches with the black keys cut 1.5 x 1.25 inches and then foam-taped onto the keyboard after I had chalked around the edges
  • border was cut using Cricut Elegant Edges Cartridge Border on page 29 along with its shadow and also foam-taped onto the keyboard after I had chalked around the edges
I thank you for stopping by and visiting today. Don't forget to showcase your project on Susy B's Blooming Challenge Blog this week to enter in the Challenge!!! It's anything goes with no size restrictions . . . . let your imagination run wild!!!!

Shhhhh . . . . can I tell you a secret but you promise not to tell - this was my first card actually but I had to do another - can you tell why???
