The Magic of Christmas Seen Through the Eyes of a Child

One of Create with TLC's new images is Embrace the Magic which I loved and knew I just had to play with it.

just look at those two children looking out the window and what do you suppose they saw - if you look very very closely you just may see Santa . . .

RECIPE and SUPPLIES:
  • red Recollection card stock was cut for 4.25 x 11 which was folded in half for a 4.25 x 5.5 inch card
  • The Paper Stack Old World Winter is the background along with the background where Santa and his sleigh and sentiment are
  • I printed the children on vellum then colored using Whisper Strokes Markers with gel pen accents - now, this has to dry at least overnight to make sure everything is dry before assembling card
  • "Christmas when we all get to be kids" is from Create with TLC Get to Be a Kid which was chalked around the edges
  • the little Santa and is sleigh which shows through the front was from Create with TLC Winter/Christmas Club last year and was colored using Spectrum Noir Markers, Whisper Strokes and gel pen accents and chalked around the edges
  • frame was cut using Cricut Heritage Cartridge and dark grey Recollection cardstock with Queen & Co. black pearls in the corners and a little bow at the top
Christmas as seen through the eyes of a child - embrace the magic!!!

It's 5's at Anything But a Card

With there being 5 Sunday's in the month of November, Anything But a Card's new challenge is 5's - this means to create anything but a card with 5's whether it be 5 buttons on a tag, 5 tags, 5 pearls .... ok, you get the idea!
My inspiration for my project for this challenge is two things - I am in a Christmas Tag swap and need to make 5 tags for each of my friends AND you know how to purchase a Cricut Cartridge because you just know you can't live without it - well, this is the case with Cricut Very Merry Christmas Tags Cartridge which makes the ideal vehicle for this challenge ~

Recipe and Supplies:
  • dark teal Recollection cardstock for the top using Cricut Very Merry Christmas Tags Cartridge cut at 3.25 inches
  • turquoise Recollection cardstock for the bottom layer
  • the snowflake which was cut from the dark teal on the front, I hated to see it go to waste and got creative and glued this to the back of my tag

Now, what makes this interesting is I have created not only a gift tag from my Christmas Tag Swap BUT my Design Team Project for Anything But a Card with an added bonus - The Scrapbook Blessings Club is joining forces with Honeybearz Designs for the 12 Days of Tag which begins on Monday, November 24th. For Day 1, your tag is to have a decorative front which I used my Cricut Cartridge to create a decorative front. Come back to see what I do for Day 2.

Thanks for stopping by today and can't wait to see your projects for Anything But a Card Anything Goes as long as it's not a card!!!!

Eleanor and Pickles Starting the Stuffing Early for Thanksgiving!

This is my favorite time of the year - Thanksgiving. It brings back fond memories of my Thanksgivings with my grandparents. Gram always made all holidays special but to me Thanksgiving was always the best. I love to cook Thanksgiving dinner even if it's just Bob and I because the aroma of the turkey and the pies brings all the memories rushing back in and I channel my Grandmother in the kitchen as she was the best cook ever!!!

This card began with the sentiment, "Let the Stuffing Begin", had been a previous freebie from Create with TLC which reminded me of the great dishes and all the stuffing that went with it!!!! The card then took a life of it's own and it went from there! I loved Lacy Sunshine Eleanor and Pickles Autumn Harvest and thought they made the purrfect match!!!

RECIPE and SUPPLIES:
  • rust Recollection card stock was cut for 4.25 x 11 which was folded in half for a 4.25 x 5.5 inch card
  • background is DCWV Harvest Stack
  • Eleanor and Pickles were colored using Whisper Strokes Markers and then chalked around the edges
  • "Let the Stuffing Begin" had been a previous freebie from Create with TLC and was given a decorative corner punch and chalked around the edges with scraps for the background
  • turkey button is from my button TINS!!!!
  • corn is jolee's boutique for Fall Harvest
  • and of course feathers in Eleanor and Pickles' headdresses
Thanksgiving Blessings my friends. I do appreciate you stopping by to visit with me and I appreciate and love reading each and every comment . . is your comment the next one I read???

Angel Lace Ornament

At Scrapbook Blessings Club, there is a special feature on Tuesday's:  Anything Goes with showcasing current projects, what you would like to make and today, I would love to show you my Brother Embroidery Machine and my current project - a free-standing angel bookmark or ornament.

This is a very simple, less expensive embroidery machine. With the machine, I highly recommend having a rewritable card which you can add additional designs to stitch with your machine. I am using Criswell Embroidery Designs K-Lace Bookmarks for a 4x4 hoop

For our project today, we are using water soluble stabilizer as we are making a free-standing lace and I use 3 layers and place in my hoop  and stretch tautly

I used white Sulky Embroidery thread both in the upper and in the bobbin for extra stability. Embroidery thread has a sheen which gives a beautiful finish.

Once the stabilizer is in the hoop, the magic begins as the machine stitches all by itself!!!!

Once the stitching is complete, you need to trim the excess of the stabilizer away

Are you ready for more magic??? This now goes into a dish pan or the sink where you run water over it to dissolve the stabilizer and leave your finished product!

All you need to do now, is let your design dry which I leave dry on a wash cloth.

Once completely dry, trim the loose thread you see hanging there and add a thin ribbon or gold thread and you have completed a lace angel ornament in 15 minutes!!

Well, I hope you enjoyed my beautiful lace angel. Thanks for stopping by and hope you leave a comment as I love to read what you think!!!!

Much love, hugs, and friendship
Lynne
