Guest Designer Wednesday - Edwina Brown

I want to check out another fabulous project by Edwina at http://edwinascreations.blogspot.com/  – she is a wonderful designer and friend!!!!!

Lynne, Here is the card I made for you. There are different photos of it. I hope you like it.

I used Cricut cartridges Elegant Edges, 3 Birds on Parade, and Sweethearts to make this card. I left the tags without writing so the person I am giving the card to can use the tags. The ribbon is from 3 Girl Jam baby girl crinkle ribbon. The Twine is from the Twinery. The papers are by Martha Steward and Recollections. The stamped sentiment is by Stampin Up.

Thanks Edwina – you are always willing to be a special Guest Designer with the most fabulous projects which I thoroughly enjoy and appreciate!!!!!! Thoroughly AMAZING and PHENOMENAL!!! Please stop by and give Edwina some bloggie love and tell her what an amazing project this is!

Cute, Quick Adorable Valentines for Grandkids!

Valentine’s Day was always special back when we were in elementary school – we made our Valentine Box and then at home would sign our name to the Valentines we would be handing out to our friends and even not so friends. Let's not forget the cornball sayings -- well, this paper piecing file sew reminds me of those days!!!

SVG Cuts has this quick and easy and wonderful paper piecing file – 24 Valentines with envelopes included!!!!!! Wowsers who could possible beat this thought process. These make up super quick and cute!!!!

Haven’t had a chance to post and I apologize for that but I can’t let the month go by without posting:

First is Miss Sasha a little purse with this great Valentine paper I got at Target - 7 pieces for a dollar!!!! Bargain shopping! The purse almost looks like velvet but it was flocked paper I got at Michael's at Christmas for a $1 a sheet but oh sew worth it! Oh, did I mention the cornball sayings??

Oh, did I mention the cornball sayings?? This just struck my funny bone and hope you find it amusing!

This is for Lily, its her first Valentine's Day! Grammy had to make her a head band but Lily thought it was edible. She Loved the card and took it out of the envelope herself!

How cute is that ladybug and envelope??

Lily opened her Valentine very carefully and looks quite intent ---

I'm learning to read too ....

See, Grandma??

Check out Zack's boxer and another adorable envelope??

Nicky's cupcake card

I'm loving these envelopes!!

Thanks for stopping by …. Please leave some bloggie love!!!!

Altered Journal Design Team Project for Purplefuntastick Creations

Today our project for Purplefuntastick Creations Design Team was to create an altered journal using our 3-D flower that we had made previously.

Recipe:
Journal from the Dollar Store --- gotta love it!
Vintage Pin-ups from Far Away Hill
Crystal butterfly
Embossed ribbon on her hair
Stickles to outline her hair
Decorative pearl strand to outline the pin-up on the front
Crystal gem spray from Michael's Dollar Bin --- gotta love it!!
Flat lace from stash
Paper from a $5 paper pack from Walmart - bargains!!!
Butterfly embossed and then inked for that funky look
Blue ribbon from stash
My 3-D flower is on her head-band

I love my funky butterflies and must tell you what I was thinking let alone doing -I embossed these butterflies and these were my first attempts -- got my ink stamps and inked the edges and just kept layering the colors and they came out with this funky tie-died look but still look vintage!

My altered journal actually came to me last night when I couldn't sleep due to fibro not being my friend -- ok, I hear you laughing but honest, it did. I knew I wanted to do something with a vintage flair. I'm hoping you like my vintage chicky Lynnie look and would love to hear your comments!!

Our next challenge for the Purplies project is going to be to create something from a sketch --- come check it on March 1,2012 - sure to be a great project, at least I'm hoping!!

Here's the other Design Team Members -- please go and visit and show some bloggie love as to their projects!

For my project, I have made a card. I have several friends that I would like to send "thinking of you" cards and thought this would be an opportune time to do sew and shall we say "kill 2 birds with one stone" ....

RECIPE:
Cricut Cindy Loo Cartridge cut at 5.25 inches for the round scallop bird
Cricut Wild Card Cartridge cut at 5.75 inches for the round scallop card
Recollection White for the scallop bird and Blue for the Wild Card
Inked around the edge of the card with blue ink

I thought this made a nice outdoor scene but yet still gave a nice soft look for a Thinking of You card to write my own sentiment on the inside and hope you agree.

On the inside, I embossed "Thinking of You" ..... now, be gentle with my embossing skills as this is just something I've only started and am really trying!!!

Special Guest Designer Not Only for Me but Susan . . . come check this out!

If you 're  here for Scooby Doo Where Are You Blog Hop, please click here even though I would love for you to check out the pretty flowers and card Sasha made.

Today, Grammy Lynne is Guest Designer for her dear friend Susan Bermudez, of http://susanascorner.blogspot.com/,  but she is kinda busy and she overdid it today with shopping and laundry – geesh, you would think she would learn!!!

When Grammie and Paps pick me up after school, Grammie gets a snack for Paps and me and then we CRAFT!!!!! I’m very good at using the Cricut and love to make cards!!!

This is a Hello Kitty card we made for my Aunt Jean. This is from Grammy’s Hello Kitty Greetings Cricut cartridge.

Grammy says we use scraps first for the little pieces but we used Recollections Black for the card. I like glitter and gems and we put a gemstone in the center of the flower. I still have to decorate my card and write “I love you Aunt Jean” but we will do that later!!! Grammy says there are several rules we need to obey when using her Cricut:
1.     We don’t eat using the Cricut
2.    We don’t touch the Cricut when it is cutting
3.    And most important – the Cricut is not a toy!!!

The other project we did was using ek tools that makes dimensional flowers. Mommy bought this for Grammy and I to make pretty flowers.

We had a lot of fun with this but you have to be very careful and it is hard to get it to cut – but look how pretty the flowers are. I got to ink them as that is my favorite job but Grammy keeps the hand sanitizer handy cause I get as much ink on me as I do on the paper! Grammy then got out her beads and she glued them in the center as I'm not allowed to play with the hot glue gun - Grammy burns her fingers though and she doesn't want me to burn mine!

Hope you enjoyed our projects and thank you Miss Susan for letting me take Grammy’s place….

Hugs and Love

Guest Designer Wednesday - Janet Smith

I have the most wonderous Guest Designer here today – Janet of http://www.ladyluvbug.blogspot.com/. She has made this most fabulous card and you will need to go and give her some bloggie love and find out just how she made this phenomenal card. Again, I can only say that I have the most wonderful group of talented friends and for this I am thankful!!!

Now, let me show off this beautious card!!!!

My Guest Designer Project is a card I created for my Dear Sweet Daughter's 30 something Birthday.

I can't take credit for the idea though. I got it from a sweet Blogger friend Laurie (one of my first and the ones who inspired me to get into the blog world) at http://serenityscrappers.blogspot.com/2012/01/fun-birthday-card.html

My daughter is a shoe freak she has so many she needs a closet for her shoes alone ( I exaggerate a little LOL) so I decided to use that as the image on her card.

The base is a standard 4.25 x 5.5 white card.
The next layer is black  Recollection card stock at 4 x 5.25
On top of that I put a piece of black and White patterned paper  3.75 x 5 from atd called "heart flourish" Love this paper.

The Shoe was cut on my E2 cricut at 3.5 inches the image is from one of the cartridges loaded on the E2 I used all 4 layers black for the shadow silver for the full shoe pink glitter paper for the next layer and the red on the top layer.

A piece of white ribbon that I hand folded and glued at the bottom with a few silver beads. The Birthday sentiment is from "My Creative Time" along with the mat shape.

Inside I used a couple stamps:  the daughter is from my vast collection of un-named acrylic stamps the sentiment is from K Andrews Design Stamps "Fashionable Friends" I decorated the inside to coordinate with the outside. I love how this looks and so did she!!

Thank you Lynne for giving me a chance to showcase one of my favorite cards . Hope you all enjoy my card.

Thank you Janet for being my Guest Designer and  I'm loving this card and your daughter is very very lucky to receive this card made with such love!!!

Again, thank you Janet for being my Guest Designer today and be sure to give some bloggie love and express my thanks to Janet....

God Bless and thank you my bloggie family!

Mardi Gras Blog Hop

Welcome to our Mardi Gras parade. I must warn you though while you may enjoy jumping up to catch beads, doubloons, cups, stuffed animals--whatever! Please yell at the float riders "Throw me something, Mister!" Bring a large, sturdy plastic or cloth bag to hold all the treasure you'll be catching - if you try to put all of your beads around your neck, you'll have a hard time standing up straight! Be prepared: some people get so overcome with excitement they will occasionally jump in front of you to grab what a rider has thrown to you. Don't get into a tug-o-war as there are many more floats on the way! If you're visiting our hop and have traveled a distance, hold up a sign saying where you are from.. Our local riders love to see people from far away have a good time and will throw goodies to them to make sure they do!

The colors of Mardi Gras are: Purple which represents justice; Green which represents faith; and Gold which represents power.Mardi Gras is always held the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday. Mardi Gras is music, parades, picnics, floats, excitement ... and one big holiday in New Orleans! Everyone is wearing purple, green, and gold; and adorned with long beads caught from the beautiful floats. They sit on the ground throwing balls, playing music, having a picnic, and watching the crowds walk by between parades.

Instead of beads, coconuts (which apparently is the most prized throw from floats) and other baubles, we have two great sponsors:

$15 Gift Card for Treasure Box Designs (http://www.treasureboxdesigns.com/). They are asking you to stop by their blog and become a follower of their blog at http://treasureboxdesigns.blogspot.com/. They are having issues with their blog at this time but asking you to become a follower!

$50 Gift card from Anita Meadows Cannon

$
Sew, sit back with your beverage of choice, just keep in mind the police are in full force watching for drunken lewdness as this is a family event! Feel free to watch in costume, as this is a festive hop!!

If you have just happened to be visiting with me today, don't get me wrong as I always love visitors, BUT, I’m also your first hop at the beginning of our parade route. Kimberly and I are your co-hostesses and Grand Marshalls of the Mardi Gras Blog Hop today and hope you have a fabulous time!!!!

Recipe:
Treasure Chest Box Designs Treasure Tots Mardi Gras Tots (http://www.treasureboxdesigns.com/category_30/Treasure-Tots.htm) and what’s best its on sale now for $2.99!!!!
JoAnn Fabrics Accents for the mask on front, Mardi Gras sign, Beads and bottle inside – brace yourself, I got this on clearance for $.79 CENTS!!!!! Wowsers, wish I would have gotten more!!!
Scrap paper along with some in my stash (we all know what that is!)

Did you check out all my beads --- see, I'm bead worthy!!! Ok, maybe sometime in another life-time but . . .

Sorry, no sentiment as of yet inside …. Came up with a few ideas though and you can help me with that – I was going to put “Shake your tata’s” or having the girl ask “am I bead worthy”  and the boy responding “Oh Yeah!”

Hope enjoyed my float in the parade. To continue on the parade route, your next stop is Edwina.  I would love for you to throw me your comments as to my tribute to Mardi Gras!

Here is the entire link of the hop in case you get lost along the way!!! As, I have remarked, this is one very talented group of ladies with amazing projects by all!!!!

Again, thank you ever sew much for stopping by. Please leave comments to show your bloggie love to all of the crafty ladies along the parade route!

God bless and thank you
