Family Blog Hop

"Family" is a special word that means more then those that are actually related to us. It is a word that means those that are close to us. Those that are there for us when we cry or laugh and just want to talk. Families are special and this is a special time to be thankful for our family be it large or small, near or far. Please join our crafters as they celebrate families through their creativeness and love.

Our hostess is Jearise from http://lorbysworld.blogspot.com and she will be having a special give away on her blog so make sure you start with her blog to see the prize and how to enter the drawing.

Family and Thanksgiving are two of the very most important things in my life!!! I have very very fond memories of Thanksgiving when it was “over the river and through the woods to Grandmother’s house we go ...”. Ok, there was no horse but holidays were meant to be shared with family. The adults would be at the one table with of course the kid’s table. Grace was said and each of the kids said the grace and took their turn chronologically. Grandmother would have a feast!!!! Those are happy memories of “Family” to me!!!!

For my project today, I wanted to create a scrapbook page for Lily for her parents to start with their “family traditions” and realize that family means the world!

My project is now finished and I'm loving it and hope you do toooooo

My Lay-Out will be used for Little Scraps of Heaven Sketch Challenge this week

  • background paper is Mambi 12 Month Stack
  • my square scalloped  was cut using Little Scraps of Heaven Scalloped Shapes Pattern Set which is one of my very most favorite files of theirs using DCWV Harvest Gathering Stack
  • my adorable Pilgrim Mouse is another Little Scraps of Heaven cutting file - Pilgrim Mouse Pattern which finished size is 4.75 inches. My Pilgrim Mouse Girl  is still sitting on my cutting mat waiting to be assembled and added to my creation which is also another Little Scraps of Heaven file - Pilgrim Mouse Girl and hope you take a moment to stop back and see my finished product!
  • my journal card and pocket along with my photo mat were also cut using my DCWV Harvest Gathering Stack
  • the wording - "Gather Together" was cut at 4.25 inches using my Cricut Thanksgiving Cartridge using black Recollection cardstock
  • Martha Stewart Eyelet border punch was used for the 5.25 inch background for the wording also using DCWV Harvest Gathering Stack with orange ribbon added to either side
  • sunflower buttons were added to the journal tag and corners with orange ribbon around the photo mat tied into a bow
  • mice were puff-dotted on
This would have been finished but I had a stumbling block and of all things that caused me to stumble was what papers to use for my photo mat and journal card - dah, all I had to do was look through my DCWV Harvest Gathering Stack and I would have seen the individual elements which I used.
